Thoughts? Comments?

I'm going with Coker Tire 59132 STA Super Traxion On/Off-Road Tires.

I run 37" Pitbulls on 15" Hutchinson's on my TJ, about 130 lbs each, and have never had issues. So I don't see why my driving style couldn't support up to a 40" on the much stronger JT axles. I've hacked my TJ all up to make room though and wouldn't do that to the JT, so whatever fits, fits .
Are the JT axles stronger than the JL ones? I'm assuming they have to be due to the towing capacity. Many run 37s on stock JL axles so I'm wondering if 40s will now be an option?

I don't think the JT D44 Advantek axle is any different than the JL axle. They are 8% stronger than the previous generation D44 from the JK according to Dana.

Evo Engineering says no. They also say the 37" tires with stock axles work, but recommend reinforcing things. Forgot what they said, "trussing"? its in this video

Didn’t mention anything about re-gearing

Four Wheeler magazine says the JT axles are in fact beefed up over the JL version. Interesting...

"Speaking of axles, the JT comes standard with third-gen, Advantek-based Dana 44s. Front axles are shared with the JL, but the rears are beefed up with a stronger ring and pinion, 10mm thicker axles tubes, and up to 5-percent-larger brakes to handle the increased payload (almost double the JL in some trims) and towing numbers (as much as 4,150 pounds more) over the JL and to meet the J2807 towing specification."

Cooper Discovery STT Pro. About 69 lbs per tire. .
Just for clarity, everyone is talking about these being LT (Light Truck) tires, right?

Both stock tire options for the JT (A/T and M/T’s) are JT... (Opps, Freudian Whip, errr Freudian Slip, I must have JT on the brain!) ... both are LT Falken tires.

ALSO here is a really good tire test article, must comprehensive off-road tire test I’ve seen.

https://expeditionportal.com/where-the-rubber-meets-the-road/

All-Terrain tire comparison article from 2014. A bit dated now but several of the A/T tires being discussed were in it. The Cooper AT3 was the overall winner. Good read and hope Expedition Portal redoes the test again soon with the best 2014 tires and adding in the newer ones as well.

The tires on JT (Falken 285/70-17) are a LT-C rating which wasn't available before, so they must be a model that was created under contract just for Jeep.

Currently running 40x13.50r17 Milestar Patagonia on my JLUR. I had 38x13.50r17 Milestars on my JK. I zero complaints about them.

Though I have no complaints, I like to try different products, so I'm also considering the following:

Kanati Mud Hog 39x12.50r17
BFG KM3 39x13.50r17
Cooper STT Pro 40x13.50r17

Are those milestars really as quiet as some of the YouTube reviews say? My frame of reference would be BFG KM2s, which are definitely not quiet.

They are. I have had KM2s and there is no comparison between the two. I'd rate the KM2 pretty noisy and not very smooth. The Milestar are very smooth and quiet. Ride like an all terrain.

Guess I’ve probably got my ‘8rs tires picked out then - I was cleaning that way based on price alone, but if they’re well behaved and quiet too, I’ll be a very happy boy.

The positive is that they stay balanced which isn't the case for some MT/ATs.
