How do you get the wheel lock on the spare tire? I saw someone with the key needed to lower their spare in addition to having to use the keys on the mounted wheels and tires. Seems like the 5th locking lug nut goes to lock the chain for the spare.

Anyone have any experience with these?

The spare tire lock is a separate option from the locking lug nuts. It installs in the lowering mechanism underneath the truck. It requires the provided key to raise and lower the tire, which can be done by anyone unless the locking kit is installed.

is the spare lock not just a locking lug nut? I would figure it would be, as the lug wrench is used to lower the spare tire, and when someone with the locking lug nuts installed needed to lower their spare they had to attach the lug nut key to the lug wrench

I don't know, since I only have the locking lug nuts. I didn't buy the spare tire lock kit. The picture shows the kit as two separate pieces.

It's just a press-fit deterrent. You insert the shorter piece down the spare tube where it has an o-ring or something to hold it in place on the square "knob" the spare tools normally engage with. That prevents someone with their own spare tools from lowering your spare tire. The longer piece attaches to your spare tools.

If you have 5 actual lug nut locks you have a Wrangler lock set. Sorry I thought we were talking about the Mopar spare lock. There's no way to secure the spare with a standard locking lug nut.

It's this set https://www.quadratec.com/p/mopar/wheel-locks-wrangler-jl. They work on my JT and I got them from someone on this forum. I am guessing the 5th is for the spare on the Wranglers. 82212564 is for the 4-lock set.
Yeah that's exactly why there's an extra since the Wrangler is one of like 4 vehicles on the market that doesn't have a spare under or inside the vehicle. Most wheel lock kits only include 4 locks.
