They probably never set the pressure correctly to your vehicle.

I'd just stick to what it says by your driver's door, which is probably 36 PSI cold.

When you mount tires you sometimes will air them up to or near the max PSI to get the tire bead to set in the "rim." This is especially true with larger tires, or stretched tires.

You then need to set the correct pressure.

Now if you have load range D or E tires then the PSI will be higher.

So double check on the tire itself (Not the website) what load range you have. The side wall will also tell you what the max PSI is, but again if they are load range C, try setting them to 36 and see how the feel.

There are ways to adjust PSI to your tire and vehicle based on driving characteristics.

Thanks so much...I've been questioning this setting for a long time. I will have them adjust them after checking my load range

Ok just checked. Mine ARE load range C.

Fine print on the tire it says: "Never inflate beyond 40 psi to seat beads"
Also states: Max Load Single 2755lbs at 60psi

I think I'm going to air them down to 36psi and check the ride quality.

OP, stick with your stock rims unless you really just want something else.

I’m on my stock rubicon rims and running 35x12.5R17 Goodyear Duratracs. They’ve been on now for over 5,000 miles and no weird wear issues.
I run 32~33 cold.
if I’m going to tow/haul a lot of weight, I’ll air them up.

I didn’t rub at all with stock suspension.

The 7.5” width of factory rim will hold a bead better off-road when aired down.

Discount Tire has lots of options for a 12.5” wide tire on the factory diesel rubicon wheels.

Reviving an old thread, but this is similar to what I want to do. Namely, put 35s on the stock Rubicon wheels.

Will dealership or tire shops give me grief if I say “I know it says 8.5” minimum put it on anyway.”?

My neighbor is a mechanic and has all the equipment to do this in his garage, so worst case scenario I could buy him some beer to put the tires on it with me.

They shouldn’t. Discount tire has zero issues.
