So I have the aux switches in my diesel. Non Rubicon if it matters. Again does anyone have a part number or the battery size number?
94R or H7 is the larger main battery. AUX14 is the ESS battery. I watch the prices and buy the ACDELCO batteries from Amazon. If I need it right away, I go to Sam's Club or Costco.

I replace with whatever AAA has in the van that day, since i'll be replacing it under warranty a year later

AAA is only like $20 more than Autozone and I can sit in the AC rather than doing any work myself

Highly recommend Odyssey and highly do not recommend Optima. Directly saw the quality of Optima degrade immensely over the past 10 years.

The Odyssey can still start up on my 77 Trans Am after a few weeks of not being started. The optima had to be on a tender if I didn’t drive the car within 24 hours.

With the Odyssey I notice the voltage is also constantly at a much higher level and not dropping as much when accessories are turned on.
Thanks for the Optima v Odyssey commentary.
As a Missouri resident, I was not aware Odyssey was made right here in my state. Nice to know for future reference.

Appreciate that Bill. Probably going odyssey.

So Aux 14 battery installed and new 94R Odyssey. Still getting the battery charging message. Guess I'll have to wait for a longer drive hoping it will go away once charged. If not what are the possible issues? I know there is the aux delete/ESS delete, basically unplug it and remove fuse 42 I think it said.

Did you fully charge both batteries before install?

Never had to with other cars. Just threw them in and gave it a test drive. They had almost 13 volts. Plus no charger on hand

Should always charge batteries before install. alternators, especially modern smart systems, aren't battery chargers, they are more maintainers.
Takes a long time to get from "it starts, it must be ok" to the full 100% state of charge if you are just driving it.
Plus, now your IBS is thinking one thing, but the batteries are in a totally different state.
Always charge new batteries, and reset IBS at same time so they start out equal.

IBS may be telling the PCM that the amp hours in has matched the amp hours out so no charge is needed.

Can't blame the system when it's like any computer - it's only able to know what it's told - and it's being lied to.

IBS? Can I charge in vechicle? Or do they need to be at least unplugged from vechicle?

Yup, also an odyssey guy here. used to be a Optima guy, but they got bought out years ago and started making them in Mexico. I went through multiple yellow and redtops under warranty.
No problems to date with my Odyssey batteries. (not in the jeep, in the sxs)

Both my batteries just went oup at 47k miles. $692 to replace
Holy cow, that's insane. I spent $350 on both batteries and swapped them in my garage in about 30 minutes.

I was thinking that as well. I can get both for ~$400 (NAPA, etc.) and perhaps more if I shopped around.
The swap is not difficult - as long as one remembers to fully disconnect those two ground cables so you can't accidentally fry the high current fuse...........

Yep, 2 Napa batteries is what I got. $350 in fairness was with a coupon they had, probably would have been closer to the $400 mark you mentioned. Ground separation is key...
