I'm starting to get emails and offers, but I just don't see the value. I have a 5 minute drive to work and back each day, errands around town, and the occasional trip. And I play a lot of music and podcasts through my phone anyway. I *think* my key fob will do anything the app in my phone can. "Start, stop, lock, unlock, panic" seem to be the only things. If I could even start my truck in the dead of winter and then set the temp and turn on the cold weather package, I might consider it but $5 a month for radio with ads isn't worth it with my driving habits. Besides the features I've mentioned, is there anything I should consider keeping this service for? Thanks in advance.

Hah, yea I set myself a reminder 1 day before renewal and call them to cancel. 100% of the time (in my experience) SXM will offer you the service for $5/month for 6 months. I have never paid more than $5/month and I have had SXM continuously for about 10 years now

I'm not even sure I'd pay $60 a year for radio with ads. Just trying to figure out if there's more to the service/XM Guardian and so forth. Of course, I won't have off road maps by the time my truck is broken in and is something I'd dare take on trails. But the vast majority of that will be hunting trails I doubt they'd have mapped anyway.

I guess in some ways I am just cheap. I refuse to pay for any of it - XM, Pandora, Spotify, Youtube. I just turn down the dial if/when the ads get too annoying. I suppose I could look at it as saving $0.25 each time I listen to one or something.

The guardian service never worked right so it was an easy drop for me, they wanted over $10 a month (maybe 20) just for that crap. They kept trying to offer me lower and lower prices on the radio portion expecially post covid but I don't drive enough. Sprint gives me free tidal on my phone and it works with android auto so I saw no reason to keep sirus.

They are getting more and more desparate though. I just got a letter they offered me 3 years in my van for $100. had they offered it for the Jeep I might have jumped on it.

SiriusXM Guardian and SiriusXM Radio are two completely separate services.

Satellite Radio can be cancelled and they will offer you something much more cost friendly.

SiriusXM Guardian is something I can't get behind. Mine is free for 5 years because I threw a fit over the activations process in the Gladiator (long story, won't go into it here), but if I wasn't getting it for free, I would never pay for it. An aftermarket system like CompuSTAR DRONE is faster, more reliable and gives more information about the vehicle for less money per month.

What a racket. I'm surprised that FCA doesn't install their own version of Guardian as part of buying their vehicles.

If they did, then they would also have to maintain it. SiriusXM already has a system in place, so they offer that for customers that want it. SiriusXM also provides the service for my Nissan Leaf.

If it weren't for the auto industry, I can't imagine satellite radio would still be a thing.

I did not like Sirius when I first got it. Once I installed the app it seemed to open up more options that I actually like. I am on the fence. I pay $10 a month now. When they kick it up next year after whatever discount I am currently on expires, I may decide to drop it. I can't justify more than $20 per month.

I think I listen to Sirius more through their app or online player while at work than I ever have in a vehicle.

Yep, this is the way ha.... I did have to actually cancel this last renewal, they finally wouldn't offer the stupid low deal to keep me, but then a few weeks later here comes the email, $4.95 a month if I renew now. Sort of like the old battle I always had to have with cable before we dropped them for good.
