Back in the day there were forest service roads all over NH and most are now closed to motorized travel. Here in Colorado, we have lost hundreds of miles of trails since I came here in 2003. The same has happened in Utah, Nevada, California, etc. That is why we need to support groups like the Blue Ribbon Coalition BlueRibbon Coalition | ShareTrails or here in Colorado organizations like COHVCO Home - COHVCO and in Utah groups like Utah Public Lands Alliance – Preserving Public Lands for Public Use Another way is joining a local clubs or state organization that actually boots boots on the ground to help maintain trails and fight these closures.
I agree. I saw first hand that they actually make a difference so I got off my ass and started to help. I help with desert cleanups and trail maintenance. I post the events but barely anyone shows interest or shows up.

Tellico...the closest thing us living in the Southeast had to bragging we built a Jeep that could rock crawl with the best out west. Trail 9, Helicopter Pad, and Lower 2 were awesome.

I remember the Jeepsunlimited.com Right Coast Run we put together every year. Met some great people.

Now I often wonder how a Gladiator would do on these types of trails.
We went there twice with Jeeps R Us club. Rented out all 4 of those cabins… it was soo much fun!! Many memories….

We used to go to Frazier park in California, back in the 70’s. I moved cross country in ‘80, so I’m not sure it’s still even open. We used to love camping out there, and panning/dredging in the creek that ran through it for gold and gems.
Thats funny I did not even think anyone even knew of that place. Me and my oldest brother and his friend used to go camping and hunting there until I went into the Army.

Another vote for Tellico. Those were the days.

Paragon was the best back in the day. I would leave Ithaca with a half dozen friends in lifted TJ's and YJ's and spend the weekend playing there. The last few times I wheeled in NY was on private land. Been out to Moab a few times now though, worth the trip.

I’d love to go there and rent a Jeep….. I just gotta get off my ass and reserve one.

My wife and I got married in Moab, rented jeeps from Twisted Jeeps. We went back for our 5 year anniversary in her JKUR and then drove the white rim trail, camped at white crack. We may end up moving to Utah when we retire. That place is epic.

You have to be careful renting a Jeep in Moab. You are restricted on what trails you can take it on. If you get caught on the wrong trail. You'll get an extra charge when you turn it in. Don't ask me how I know.

😂 No worries there…. I’d stick to the designated trails. It’d be a vacation for us (we’re from the east coast). The scenery there is absolutely beautiful…….no matter what trails we’d be on.

I'm south of Pittsburgh. Been to Moab 6 times. Have done most of the trails there. Love going out there.

Did you rent a Jeep each time you went?
How does that even work? Do they let you willy-nilly stay on designated trails without a 2nd vehicle with you?

I've done most of the trails there in my Power Wagon. Had the JT there once. The one year we when there. We were towing a Grand Cherokee behind the motorhome. We decided to rent a Jeep from an outfitter there for 3 days. The Jeeps have the Outfitter's logo's on them. They will tell you what trails you are allowed on. If you are on one of the other trails and someone spots you. When you turn the Jeep in. You get hit with an extra charge which isn't cheep.

After doing a half-dozen Jeep Jamborees, we signed up for our first Rubicon July 2025. Am told Rubicon over the years has gotten a bit more difficult (steeper in places) due to all the traffic it gets. Gladys is my daily driver so yes i'm nervous but will feel great once we complete the trail, though my hunch is Gladys won't look quite the same afterward.
