I heard that the engineers screwed up and it cant fit a single sheet...
that's why they're releasing an OSB side panel edition. If you wanna carry your OSB, it must be on the side panels of the truck.

Blasphemy!!! The Wood Book sayeth, ā€œThou shalt not have any other woods before plyā€.
LMAO. Thank you brother Renegade.

According to the Jeep sales guy that talked to his dealer rep: yes to the wood option. But they won't announce the price until after you order it, and I know it's going to be a $1,200 option after a renewable carbon credit. Which is fine if you want a lower tow rating, but I'm guessing I could add it aftermarket for $16. The online builder doesn't say how thick, so if it's 3/4 it might lower the the total number of sheets you can haul in a bed. The engineers we're brilliant though as you can take the sides off and stow them in the bed... they even pre-cut a notch for the fuel fill. Now the sides can be used as a bed platform for sleeping in the bed of the truck.
Excellent research! Query: does it come in flavors? Can you "lay it on someone?" And does it come with a shed for taking someone behind it? I am so sick and tired of the option packages requiring extra purchases. I'd rather do without the package from the factory and just go to Home Depot to outfit after market. I know it is more expensive. But the quality!!!

The Overland will come with some nice, open pore oak plywood on the dash for that premium feel.
Here's what my inside source told me. Some of these, OF COURSE, are late available:

Because plywood notch ≠ osb notch. The PCM controller in the side window needs a new actuator before you can even attempt an osb ply conversion. Especially at low tire pressure. Don't even get me started on the effect on TPM indicator light deactivation if you try to substitute ply for osb. That's like using leaded instead of tarpuline.

Hilarious meme, although I do feel a bit bad about the target - Outward Bound is a great organization, and that dude is wearing completely reasonable business casual attire for the era. OTOH, the lulz!!

Just realized with the help of Malarkey21 that we've been neglecting OSB, the less fortunate cousin to plywood.

I made this as an offering to the OSB/plywood gods.

Gator OSB.webp

There’s no love for OSB because it deserves no love, like the bastard wood it is. It’s not ply, it’s not MDF, it’s just the crud leftover turned into something people *won’t even walk on* without covering it with 2 layers of underlay and carpet.

I’d be ashamed to even call it wood...

like all red headed step children, OSB serves its purpose for things like siding and roofing where you don't need the lateral strength of the mighty Ply. Just don't get it wet, lol

You know, I was tempted to take this thread down an ā€˜OSB-lover’ and ā€˜plywood supremacist’ rathole just for lulz, but for some reason that feels wrong. Maybe the realtor eyes are making me feel guilty...
