A good prep on the bumper. Then coat it with LineX or Rhino liner. If you live where they use salt on the road. And you do powder coat. The first stone chip and it's done.

I've used LineX on 2 different bumpers and 2 sets of rock rails. The first set of rock rails were powder coated. After the first winter. I had to remove all the powder coat and prep them for LineX. That was in 2009. Those rock rails are still on the truck today.
