Really surprised I couldn't find any threads with "lowest profile camper" so figured I'd ask!

I'm guessing it's GFC, there new V2 looks to be pretty close to the roof top, and then the pop up part itself is pretty slim.

Thinking about getting one, but overall height is a concern. Anyone know the distance from say, the top of the rain gutter to the top of the GFC camper?

Are you only looking for camper shell tents?

Theres some threads over at the GFC forum on this. https://forum.gofastcampers.com/t/jeep-gladiator-build/4721/23?page=2

With the V1:
Roughly 7.75-8 inches from cab to tent top.

Overall height is the reason I went with a clamshell tent and a half height bed rack, and it still didn't work out for me to fit in my garage. With a 3" lift (advertised 3", but net probably 3.5-3.75") and 35's my RTT is just scraping the trim seal for my 7' garage door, so now I'm trying to go less lift so I can hopefully fit 37's and stay at or under 82"

The TopperEZ lift will keep your height down.

Dang it I do love that thing, great idea, but really doesn't help me fit myself and the kids, or the wife in a bed to sleep...

More and more, looks like the GFC is the best bet. I can still throw my kids little 50cc dirt bikes in the bed, still sleep above them, still have my dirt bike on the hitch hauler... that's kinda the long term goal. Quick over nights with three bikes and me and the two kids, OR just fun campouts with the fam... We've really liked our RTT, just a simple Inspired Overland RTT, I can put it on and off myself pretty quick. But I'm like an inch too tall for the garage at work, which really sucks. Don't want to lose my 37's or my (very minor) lift via synergy springs (more so to carry the weight).

I can try and get a pic when its light but I just measured my GFC v2. From the bottom of the rain gutter it looks just under 10.5"

I'm not sure if the v2pro/max sits any different. Pics I've seen make it seem like there is another 1/4" or so of space for the led strips but that might just be different truck setups.

If height is really really an issue you can go with something like the JCR adventure rack which is kind of half height and use plywood or something to make your own enclosure.

I didn't care about height that much but if you got a hard shell tent you could keep it even lower. Probably close to cab height. But you plus kids I'd look more at the XL soft shell tents.

I used a method called poor man's fiberglass. But you could make the panels with whatever you want. Shameless plug of my build writeup.

It works well if you're just trying to keep hands and weather off your stuff.

Yea! That's the process of covering insulation foam with wood glue and cotton cloth. The most common cloth is just painting drop cloth. Combines with exterior paint it's rigid, light and waterproof. It also weighs almost nothing. It's used to make ultralight DIY camper trailers.

But a canopy is a completely different story than a tent on a rack.

I mean even it’s small, but you can utilize your bed as living space.

We had tent at first and then changed to Alucab ModCap, would never change it out.
As GFC just made EU appearance later, when we already had the install done.

I think Lone Peak Camper V2 is probably my top contender at the moment. Low, looks great, lots of available options and accessories. Problem is NOW I just want the WHOLE set up from them with everything lol, and THAT is not cheap. Might be waiting for my tax return, from 2029, lol...

I run a Topo Topper Badlander, its only 8.5 inches above the roof, I was easily able to fit it in my 8' garage while I had one, even with 2.5" lift and 37s. I think you'd be better off with a camper that offers a queen size matress though like the Topo Topper Rincon or Ovrlnd camper though if you're planning on fitting more than 2-3 people.

Nice looking rig! We have been looking at the topo topper. If you dont mind we have a couple questions. How is the Badlander in the wind? Have you had Any water leaks? Are you happy with the build quality? This looks like a really nice setup. Thanks for any info you can share.
