We have a 2024 Jeep Gladiator Mojave.
The other day my husband went to kill a mosquito on the inside of the windshield. When he hit at it, his wedding band hit the glass and now we have a cracked windshield. There is a tiny chip from it on the inside. The weird thing is that the crack is in a rounded square shape that is connected. Have you heard of this happening? We are scared to drive it, not knowing if the windshield will end up in our laps. It's this a faulty windshield or is it the design? It is also Gorilla glass.

You watched too many Safelight commercials. Drive it!

If you have seen any shoot em up movies, where the windshield is full of bullet holes, and it takes thr guy 4 or 5 kicks to get the windshield to fall out? That's more realistic.

My windshield has 2 cracks that run top to bottom, 3 small stone chips and one large chip from a rock about the size of a tennis ball. Drive it every day with no issues. Its a $500 deductible or a $500 windshield. One day I will drop the $$ but for now I am just being lazy.

Your windshield will be fine to drive but I would call like Safelite or similar company, they can fix those small chips like new, for cheap. I even did one of the DIY chip fix kits in the past and that worked pretty good

Windshields are literally glued in with urethane and become part of the structure of the vehicle. It's not possible for it to just fall into your laps.
In fact, you can't even kick it out - it's not possible. You'd bust it and shred it, but the outer parts would stay stuck to the frame. There's a center layer that's more like a vinyl and it prevents things like windshields going to pieces or falling in your lap.
Mythbusters had a bit on a show years ago that showed even a frozen drink or a soda can didn't knock out a windshield at highway speeds. Break, yeah, heck yeah, but not falling out.
My gut says - not fixable. It would need to be replaced. If it's beyond a chip and larger than a certain size- like larger than a quarter, it's replacement time.

Yes, drove with a small crack on my JKU for over 10 years and the crack never grew. You should be fine

Faulty windshield? Punching it with a ring would be the reason not be the design of the windshield.

Still under warranty, have them replace it. My 2022 Glad had a crack appear from a bump in the first year. At 36k a stone cracked it and they replaced it.

I'd like to know the team he plays for so I can place some bets, or is he a boxer. Maybe he shoots flies with a 12gauge?
I mean, really, that's quite a smack. Those defenseless little bugs against a windshield cracking slap seems overkill.
In all seriousness, it takes a fair smack to do that.

Smacking ones windshield and causing damage is not covered under warranty

Are you serious? Cracked the windshield on the inside because of a ring on his finger? Must have been one hell of a mosquito.

What's the real story?

There are anger management resources out there.

Just sayin'

All in good fun... But that is an amazing story.

It was a BIG ring and those mosquitos can give you key lime or something.

Wow.
I have been curious about Dow Corning Gorilla Glass since I required an expensive windscreen replacement during my second week of ownership @ 320 miles on a NEW Ford Fiasco 150 back in 2019.
OEM W/S was $800 with calibration fee.
the D/C gorilla glass was $$$$ before calibration.

I now view windscreens as a wear item & now choose the lowest cost option as I keep a $$$$ deductible on full comprehensive.
I just hate shoveling money to insurers; don't you?

Best of luck with your ride.............

My windshield has been cracked for 6 months.

I expect it to stay cracked for about 80 more.
Great that you can see through yours.
I suffer from recent PVD with floaters & bilateral Meniere's.
I really like the optics thru clean glass.
