Wire Identification.

Traded up to a 22 Gladiator Rubicom from a 20 Sport. This past weekend. After taking delivery I noticed this wire hanging down. Anyone have a clue about it?

No tags (w/part number) that you can see? It's kinda odd because most (tempted to say all) of the OEM wire harnesses I've seen are wrapped in cloth tape, which this does not appear to be.

It seems communications related, either steering wheel or radio/dash...at least that connector reminds me of the style used in those components.

A clear closeup of the connector might help identify it. As it is, it's too difficult to see.

I think it may have been whatever cleaner they used on it. I will see if I can pull the panel off and trace the wire.

That is a pretty long wire harness to be running loose and not taped into another harness bundle if it was OEM.

I have not had a chance to get under the dash and look closer at it. Since this was purchased from a dealer my first thought was a kill switch or locatiojn devices that was removed.

If the Jeep has an AEV lift it may be the wire for the Pro Cal SNAP that came with it to set the speedometer after upgrading to larger tires.
Check the glovebox, console, and other storage areas. The OBD unit may still be in there somewhere.

Was able to pull the dash panel and found it is a RedArc Tow Pro Electronic Brake controller. I went ahead and removed it. Appreciate everyone’s assistance and advice.

Which means that you are not planning to tow anything that might need trailer brakes?

Correct I do not plan on towing anything that large or heavy.

You could consider selling it if the parts are all there.
