Unless someone can explain to me, the necessity of driving in 8th gear constantly at highway speeds as long as the RPMs are where they should be, is necessary for transmission health, what is the problem?
It isn't a necessity at all. The problem is that the programming wants the transmission to be in the highest gear it can and, as a result, it will keep shifting in and out of 8th at highway speeds. With better gearing it will have less need to shift out of 8th. You can manually shift into 7th (lock out 8th) but the way it works is less than ideal. If it would continue its normal 1-7 shifting in manual mode it would be a fair solution but that's not what it does.

If that's the case, then you have a badunit.
