I would add as well the inside is the same but you utilize the bed to store everything. We just did a 9 hour drive and was very comfortable but that’s our take and this is not our 1st or 2nd Jeep

Going from a 2012 2dr Rubicon to a 2022 Willys JT within the next 2 weeks (hopefully it arrives - ordered 11/16/21). I’m looking forward to the difference in ride, but I don’t expect much of a difference from the wife’s 2022 4dr JL.

Don't need or want a full size. Want a better ride than a Wrangler.

Look at a Tacoma Limited.

Good luck on your purchase.

Tacomas have terrible interior space, the gladiator is the roomiest mid size pickup inside and I believe is a little bigger in the rear than the wrangler. Also don't confuse ride with on road steering manners. The gladiator has a fantastic ride, one of the best for a truck honestly. But it won't have the same on road steering manners as ifs trucks.

That said, a full size is a whole different level of space inside and on road manners. Highly recommend looking at a Ram as the interiors are the best of the full sizes and the hemi is a blast.

True, I've had 3, but depends on his most important criteria. Room, ride, or size. Ride wise, Tacoma would fit the bill...and resale is best among midsized.

Just offering up a suggestion that hadn't already been listed.

Thanks for all the suggestions! Seems like most people say I won’t notice a difference

basically, the Wrangler on long road trips hurt my back and was just generally uncomfortable for my body. Was a little noisy but that wasn’t the issue

I was just wondering if the higher trim gladiator fixed these problems due to a better suspension

Underpowered engine. Lack of rear seat leg room. Resale is negotiable.
Glad HP is 285 and weights 5,000 lb.
Taco HP is 278 and weights 4,450 lb.
I've had 3 Tacos and now this Mojave. Very similar performance, to me.

Transmissions on the other hand...Taco SUCKS!!

Tacoma resale is always tops. Easily, the highest in the midsized segment and even versus all vehicles, some years. Not even arguable...given "normal" years. The past couple years don't count, lol.

The suspension may be only part of the cause of your back pain. Seating position may play a larger role than you realize. Perhaps try an active seating pad during a long drive in your JL and see if that helps? As an FYI I’ve had an arthritic lower back since my early 20’s (a by product of being an 80’s inspired gigging musician). My chiropractor recommended one to me years ago and its been a game changer.

The Mojave is a fantastic riding truck! I have no complaints with my Mojave 6spd. I guess the only complaint I have is that I’m the opposite of you..I’m single and no family, so I’m selling my Gladiator soon. I have a 22’ 392 XR on order to replace my Mojave. It has been a perfect truck and it will serve you and your family great!!

If it is for family stuff only, the F150 rules. A 2.7ecoboost can move the truck with good fuel economy and there is stadium of space in that truck. It is a truck that does it all. I miss my F150 some days.

The F150 does lack the fun factor of a Jeep. It takes constant management to stash kids stuff. It is way narrower than the F150 and easier to manage in town and on a trail. Ride is not as good as an IFS, but it has better capability in the dirt. The Gladiator has more character than the F150.

I smile every time I drive my Jeep.

My Gladiator Mojave is the best riding Gladiator I've driven.

But its still loud compared to a F150. Very loud. And it doesn't ride as well either. And when I drive it in weather colder than 20 deg or so, you can definitely feel the cold coming through the roof.

I would go with the F-150. I didn't read all the responses but the quietness alone is worth it for long road trips - especially if you have your wife and child in the car.

I had a 2017 Ford Raptor and that was an unbelievable road trip truck. Wife loved driving it as well. Our best family vehicle to date - and we have two kids. You put a cab on the back of that bed and you are laughing.

Sold it and am building a Gladiator...but...the Raptor was a beauty and we have the GLS for family time now

I sold my '18 Wrangler and went for '22 Gladiator takign advantage of the upside down used market That Wrangler was also my first Jeep and I loved it, however:
- I have a young kid, add two mid-sized dogs and I'm playing tetris when at Costco
- when I ordered Wrangler I cut some corners on things I thought i would do in aftermarket, and this time I just ordered exactly what I wanted.

My wife and I (before we had a baby) took a 5 hour trip - it seemed fine. I've taken 8 hour trips on my own - don't mind it at all, but I enjoy driving. Sure, it's not the roomiest truck and not it's not exactly a grand tourer. Having said all that, the moment I drop the top in the spring, it's all worth it.

To me Gladiator feels "softer" than Wrangler (both are Rubis, but Wrangler was a manual, so going to auto may also contributed to the feeling). I definitely feel that there is more back there behind me. We've had a few snow and a few black ice days here in the northeast and I can't say I feel like it's more "stable", but it could be my driving style .

F150 will probably be more comfortable, but for me it's the top that makes all the difference.

EDIT: my Wrangler was a 4-door
