Now I want to hear the backstory. He seems like a nice enough guy…

Yea exactly. It's not as if he's some huckster trying to con people into buying shit they don't need. He just loves what he does and has a pretty fortunate life. I can't imagine what the hell people have a problem with.

This pops up time to time and I’ve never gotten a clean answer. I’m guessing he spammed some of his videos or products.

No schit. I’ve seen plenty of those on the Tube Who’s sole purpose seems to be to hawk a bunch of crap they probably dont even use themselves. There’s one like that I’m thinking of right now that I was watching yesterday and couldn’t even finish it.

He was breaking down all the equipment he was running. All the crap he was talking about on his truck had been given to him for free or at a massive discount. I had to laugh when as an example he was talking about the traction bars he had mounted on his rack he went on about how great they worked and why they were so good, especially compared to the really expensive ones, then ended up with how he’d never actually used them but was looking forward to it one day… maybe… ?

The conspiracy theorist in me wonders if one of the forum sponsors doesn't like him for some reason... /tinfoilhat

I was thinking the same. Figured he might compete directly with one of the sponsors here.

The only branded product I've seen him promote of his own is the overhead radio bar thing, but that's a pretty pitifully small selection of items to be considered a competitor... /shrug

I’m extremely proud of the fact that I’ve never murdered anyone with my bare hands, in public despite that whenever I ask an “associate” at Lowes or Home Depot something like “where are the stainless steel metric machine screws” I get the same response of “Well, what are you trying to do?”

In lieu of responding with extreme physical violence I just tell them “I’m building a bomb, but I’m French, so I want to do it in metric.”
I LOL’d at this.
Except when they ask me that question, my answer sounds like an excuse for trying to build a metric bomb and they look at me funny.
“Well, I need to circulate fluid with a pump because I’m building a thermocouple regulated mash tun with a mesh filter bed.”
?
Ok you got me, I’m trying to build a bomb.
“Yea, we get that twice a week. Threaded pipe and caps are in aisle 17.”

When I retired the first time. I worked for Home Depot for a few years. They ARE trained to ask those questions. Some of the people that came in asking questions. I could write a book.
I’m sure that’s to “help” inexperienced people like me not shart up their projects… can’t they just help me buy what I want??

At the power plant. We had over 100 mile of piping. It was color coded and easy to follow. This would take me a month to do a PI&D print. :surprised:

Quadratec: 1-2h installation time
Actual with help from an engineer who did the bolt-on/cut/welding mods on his Yota: 6h.
Don't you know that all engineers are all thumbs when it comes to working on things. LOL
