Jeep Gladiator Back seats begone! PXL_20230320_001520310

So, removed my back seats today to put in some storage boxes, what in the seven rings of Hell does Jeep use for threadlocker on the bloody seat bolts? If I were going to do things like this more often, I'd go out and buy a longer handled socket wrench and a cheater bar!

They've only been in for a couple hours right now, but these boxes are nice! Solid construction, fit nicely, all three boxes lock, the center box can be connected to the USB in the center console to power the lighting as well as a couple USB charge ports (no data,) and a cigarette lighter jack.

Lol, I hear you on the loctite.. I had 2 bolts I couldn't use my impact on and they took a long time to get out. What a pain..

Is this platform something you made? Looks good either way.

NVM, I just noticed the logo on the side. I hadn't heard of them before, but I kind of like the setup better than the goose gear..

Just as pricey though!

No, I'm not that talented! I met the guy behind this platform at an off-road event locally, he originally designed it for his Wrangler so his dogs would have a much flatter surface then when the seats were folded down, as well as giving him lockable storage for tooling around with the top and doors off.

At the time, he was still in the process of finalizing and sourcing a manufacturer for the Gladiator version of the system, I pre-ordered almost as soon as I got home.

Hopefully, posting a link to the manufacturer won't be a rules violation...

No problem posting those links.

Definitely looks like a solid product. I really like how they do the lid, seems a lot more useful than the smaller hatches that goose gear has.

I've not seen (or heard) of Goose Gear before, so I can't say on their stuff.

If you look close, too, the piston that holds the lid open can be adjusted some to give you more or less opening, I might actually need to either adjust it to open less, or just deal with having to slide the drivers seat forward to open the drivers' side cover all the way.

The center is nice, too, you can open it from the front seat without even turning.

With that setup, my dogs can stand in the back.

Nice! Out of curiosity, what is the front edge of that sitting on, and how does that impact moving your seats forward / back?

One thing that's nice about what I bought is, it doesn't interfere with sliding the seats, which considering my wife is a good foot shorter than me, we kind of need to do when she takes the Jeep.

Definitely a nice alternative to Goose Gear, albeit more expensive. The Cargo Dog option may win on lead times, as Goose Gear is months out from when you place the order.

As I look at the date on my purchase order, the initial expected delivery, and when I actually got the Cargo Dog. :)

But to be fair, he WAS still finalizing everything at the time and even better, kept me informed as to what was going on.

I got the goose gear set. It is expensive, but I probably could have made one similiar (CNC cut, with the locking latches) for around $800 if you include my time, various prototypes and the line-x coating.

It is the best mod so far. The doggos have so much room and I keep the 60% side stocked with a 150 piece kobalt tool kit, jumper cables, jumper pack, small survival kit. the 40% gets used for random stuff when we go adventuring.

Looks great! I started a similar DIY except I took out that rear plastic storage thing. I think it will give me another 6 - 10” of room. Also plan to make the platform into a 60/40.
I ordered the carpet and getting some more supplies on the way home today.

Planning to order the Cargo Dog set up later today. Pricey for sure but it looks like a fantastic set up.
