Mules have you thought about building them and selling them? Your idea seems better than the Alucampers etc that are out there.

Thanks for the vote of confidence! For now, I'm looking forward to testing this rig in the woods and enjoying some camping and bow hunting. Fall is my favorite time of the year and bow season starts next week.

I agree would be totally down for one of these.

Good call Jack. I'm just trying to figure out the best way to build the support for the table. Maybe a Lagun style swivel, so that it can swing out of the way.

After I play with the camper a bit, I've still got some other projects, like 12v power, water and maybe a sink, and cooking stove. I want to stay with the modular idea, so I can take these in and out of the truck quickly. Looks like I've got plenty of projects this winter.

3" hollow space? That's pretty big! If you caulked it all up to make those spaces air tight, would be pretty sweet insulation.
Yes, that's the side walls. If I go cold camping, I would have to make an insulated liner (like a quilt), to hang inside of the canvas tent. I also haven't insulated the fiberglass top yet, or the truck bed floor. I won't be camping colder than freezing this year, unless I get a good heat source.

Looks like it's coming out close to my original concepts. The kitchen will be fun to design/build this winter.

This would be nice to add, and it fits! Oh, but it's pricey.

I left 18" of room at the back of the truck for fridges, coolers, toilet, 5 gallon water jugs, chairs, etc. Here they are easy to load and can be easily pulled out while camping. You can move the coolers/fridge to the small bench, for easer access to you favorite beverage :)

Nice, I plan to do the same. Leave the very back my tailgate relatively free for larger items like the fridge that I can load from the outside via the tailgate.

I couldn't give that space up for furniture. I use the back of the bed all the time for groceries, fuel jugs, coolers, and it's so easy to reach over the tailgate and grab something from the fridge.

Oh, and one other reason it's empty. That's the only place in the camper I can stand up and go to the bathroom, when the upper bed is pulled down. Good place for the toilet. Handy on those cold nights or when it's raining.

Well, I was thinking about building in the sink and stove on top of the small bench. I was adding up the cost of a $600 sink stove combo, another $300 for plumbing, and faucet, then I have to plumb in a propane tank. I may still do that later, but for now, here's a simple, inexpensive water pump solution. A Scepter 20l jug and a cheap 12v dispenser, all for under $70.

I just ordered my Scepter and dispenser.
