I'm really interested in your opinion on the Ford. I've been looking at them lately. I'm starting to miss having the room of a full size and a nice quiet comfortable truck. The Gladiator is really like driving a very nice side by side. Plus we've been looking at getting a toy hauler so I may need more capacity soon. Let me know what you think.

Get the 5.0L or the 7.3L all our ecoboost work vehicles hit the warranty and turned into lemons! We switched to chev's with 5.3's. the only ford thats lasted over 100k without issues was an older 5.0L. You wouldnt believe the issues with the 2.7l ecoboosts. I think all 5 of them got new turbos atleast once.

My impression over the weekend is that it’s comfortable smooth and quiet has plenty of power and the same bells and whistles as my jeep. Just not a convertible. It takes a country mile to turn around. The infotainment system is quick and has wireless car play. Gauges are semi customizable” I can display different temp gauges pressure gauges and so on even has a boos gage if ya want it.. and I do lol. Sport mode is quick eco is a dog. Obviously have not tried the off-road settings elocker or anything like that. I’m working on the deal today wedging In the spray in liner all weather liners and whatnot. And like others have said I have a 4xe should we decide to hit the nonexistent trails in ny

Hopefully the F150 forum lets you keep your user name unedited.
Enjoy the heat derate the ecoboost has when worked hard, just like the EcoD. The EB may have a slightly larger margin of tolerance, but I have a friend who's EB will derate when pulling his 20' trailer up the I-17 phx to flag at 70 mph.

simply said, anything with a small mass engine and a turbo will adds lots of heat when forced to work hard. No replacement for displacement......

Went to town today to get antifreeze for my travel trailer, while leaving tractor supply I decided to drive through the ford lot. Saw a f150 with the 3.5 twin turbo…. Hmm ? wonder what they would give me for my gladiator?? 43k with 36k miles on it. Dealer let me take it for the weekend to make sure I like it. I really love my gladiator. But it’s not reliable to me. Has not left me stranded by any means. It has had and currently has more issues than I find reasonable….service 4x4
service tc
service abs.
Def issue see dealer
wiring harness replaced
endless battery charging issues.
Ess not working “due to battery “
Oil leaking
Backup cam fell out… debatably not keeps fault. Now my jeep dealer has been great. Always gives me a loaner never try’s to place blame.
I’ve never owned a full size truck so I’m going to drive it a bit this weekend and see how she does as my daily.
We still have our 4xe for top and doors off fun but we tow our camper all over and are trying to plan our national parks tour so between my daily commute 122miles a day, and our travel needs I’m hoping this will fit the bill. New rig should I decide to buy has a 13k tow rating/tow package. Heated seats led lights all around, upgraded sound nice infotainment system power seats all kinds of power and tq. Also has the gay tailgate fold out step and handle.. I’m not that old yet!!
We will see but with my issues I’ve had and the fact it runs so damn hot I’ll probably make the switch.
I’ll likely still be around here to brake balls and or have mine broken lol.
I just do not get it. My Glad / Rubi has 53, 000 miles, is over 2 years old and all I have had to do is recently replace the batteries, which would be expected. It runs exceptionally, get the gas mileage I expected, and is comfortable and used as a daily driver on highways and on desert trails and is not a mall crawler by any means.

Before you go with the f150 check out the Ram, Chevy and new tundra. I personally couldn't stand my f150 once the newness wore off as it just felt so damn cheap.
I drove an F350 superduty for seven years and 114,00 miles and never enjoyed anything so much. On the highway it was very comfortable, pulling a 31 ft. travel trailer was effortless and it was absolutely bulletproof in reliability. My jeep gets a little better fuel mileage which is nice, and taking the tops off and driving on the beach and offroad is fun, but it is very tough getting use to not being able to carry much in it and not being as comfortable as my truck.

The wife and I drove with the kids to the jeep invasion in TN, we loved opening it up in the mountains, and driving some of the trails. We definitely missed the plushness of the RAM for the other 16 hours of highway time.

Oh well, I guess it's the price we must pay to play lol.

I don’t get it either bud… wish they were all as reliable as yours and most of them are I’m sure. But mine not so much lol I really like the gladiator seriously I do!! But between the issues I’ve had and the possibility of a cp4 failure I can’t justify hooking it to my nobo and hitting the open road. If I get 35k Into the ford and have as many issues I’ll move on from that too lol. I’m certainly not hating or bashing the jeep. I just got a not so well built one … my other jeep is doing good though!!

My last three trucks were a 2012 F150 5.0, a 2013 F150 Ecoboost, and a 2008 F250 diesel. All did a lot of towing and all were phenomenal trucks. My Ecoboost had full bolt ons and a tune and made it over 300k. If I still towed anything more than a 4x8 utility trailer there’s no way I’d own a JT. For all the hype on this forum surrounding the max tow package it is a joke compared to every 1/2 ton truck option.

Fortunately the boat lives at the marina now and I don’t tow a damn thing, so I love my JT!

The towing will be nicer with the 1/2 ton by far. But it’s the other comforts that make the deal as a daily driver. My jt is by far the least roomy and or comfortable rig I’ve owned, and yes I knew that going in. I won’t by any means say this is the last jeep I’ll ever own lol. It is the last eco diesel I’ll ever own though!!
I was truly hoping by gen3 they had it sorted but not quite yet apparently
