Bed cap ideas

It really seems to come down to rsi or are for me. My gladiator is black so a black cap from either would look great. I like both have open sides and I like the small side window option if I throw my dogs in the back

One thing to keep in mind if you ever intend to sleep in back. The ARE has big sliding windows with screens. None of the others do this.

I don't plan to sleep in back so it didn't matter to me.

Yes it does. That's why I left mine white in Arizona. Even my Firecracker red truck gets so hot I cant keep my hand on it in the sun. I can put my hand on the white topper without getting burned.

Yes it sure does. So does a black hard top though….

My plan is to wrap the top of my Smartcap in white should it ever show up. And add some foam insulation inside.

Not really sure. I was going mostly on the measurements.
I have one picture of the topper on the truck if it helps. I did shorten it 13 inches to fit the gladiator bed.

The big bonus on the RSi caps is they get shipped right to your door in a few big boxes and you assemble and install it yourself and it is pretty easy to do.

The not so happy thing about RSi is that they are so popular, RSi is having problems keeping up with demand, so expect a few months wait depending on the model you order.

Good plan, I could cook on my topper, what helps on the hardtop is I've got 2 100w panel mounted on roof bars with few inches of air gap. I might need to do something similar on topper. ? I darn sure know 3m cable tabs keep coming off inside due to heating and cooling cycles.

I did it when the ceiling was a separate panel before assembly so it was super easy.

I used 3M 2080 film. It is a dry application film that is supposed to have micro channels to let air bubbles out. It worked well except in a couple of places. There I used a razor blade to pop the bubble and work the air out. This resulted in a "nick" in the wrap. Invisible from even 5 ft away.

I got the wrap from Fellers. I got it sized 60" by 2 yards long. It cost me about $90.

I have the same problem with heat in the cap here. I put a set of the under rail LED lights on the ceiling of my RSI cap. It got hot enough over the summer that it eventually separated the 3M adhesive tape from the lights. The 3M cable tabs I used to zip tie the wires also all fell off.
