My 2020 Punk'n is coming up on the end of the 3/36 warranty so I took it in and pointed out a few small items I wanted fixed but also pointed out the hood and cowl faded considerably. The plastic cowl looks white and the hood is a different shade or orange than the surrounding pieces, they informed me paint related items are only covered for 1 yr or 12k miles, is that correct? Even if not, has anyone ever had plastic pieces replaced under warranty?

My main concern is the paint fading, I know I can fix the plastic pieces relatively easy.

Ehh, idk. I'm curious to see what happens with this for you, though. Being in Florida, I can't imagine that they would want to cover that

they are going to fade. so you have a couple of choices. purchase a new OEM and wait for it to fade as well. use an aftermarket product to basically die the black and most likely will have to do it every so often because the UV will eat that up.

your third choice is go get that piece painted. this is the route I am going. yes, it cost more but buy once, cry once is my usual motto. you can get it painted black or I have chosen to go with the body color.

I'm more concerned with the paint fading than the plastic pieces, I know I can restore those.

JeepCares has left the building?

Have you tried calling various dealers to see what they say.....i know the 3/36 month bumper to bumper warranty has a lot exclusions

I have not, I may take it to another dealer during lunch tomorrow to see what they say. Tomorrow is the last day of my 3/36

Oh shit, running it up to the last minute is not an ideal situation. But either way good luck.

I used to have a product called Gatorback coating. But it's primary use was designed for the plastic cladding on Chevy Avalanches back in the day. But sadly the company went out of business. It was a few products one came in the spray can and the other was via an applicator/dabber and came in three or four different shades of black/greyish colors.

I used it to restore a wiper cowl on an old Toyota and some other trim parts. I'd imagine SEM has a product that would be similar.

I'm less concerned with the plastic, more so with the hood fading. Hopefully @JeepCares is able to help me resolve my issue with the dealership completely dismissing the claim.

Reminds me of the early white colored JL's that had the front grille and painted fenders that would fade early and turn a yellow hue. Most if not all had that covered under the 3/36K warranty.

Update:
-Went back to the dealer and said I found nothing about a 1 year 12k warranty, he asked other advisors and turns out he was wrong however that dealership does not have a body shop so they can't even do the warranty claim so they sent me to their other store that does have a body shop
-Get to the other dealer, meet the guy in charge of warranties and he is super helpful, agrees that is not normal but calls his manager over to take a look at it. The manager, not pleasant, agrees there is a problem but says he's busy so he only takes in cars that were purchased at the dealership, I told him I am fine with waiting a while to actually have it fixed, I just want to document it before my warranty expires. He proceeds to tell me he doesn't even want to do the documentation paperwork and why did I wait so long. After he left the original guy I was talking to apologized and said he will see what he can do but I may want to go to a different dealer in the meantime
-3rd dealership, a lot friendly but say the paint fade is tough to get covered under warranty but also acknowledges it is really bad, however as we were looking at it, I pointed out some corrosion on the hood hinges and on the hood by the hood hinges, that apparently is a lot easier to get warrantied and its for 5 years and also requires the hood and hinges to be repainted, decided to go that route.

Not fully resolved as my appointment isn't until January to come back and get it taken care of and at that point Chrysler needs to sign off on the repair but hopefully in the right direction.

Depending on how bad it is you may want to consider just leaving it, in my experience dealer repainted stuff didn't really match very well in color or finish.
