I use mine like a truck and a Jeep and it works great for both. Jeeps have always needed maintenance and repair to keep them alive and that’s the fun part.
That’s why Jeepers started to wave at each other because they knew that other driver was a like-minded self-reliant and capable person that got their hands dirty to keep doing the things they love and go where only they could go.
Used to wave or acknowledge a driver of another lifted or tough rig no matter the brand.
I stopped waving at every Jeep because it became a brand thing.
Today, more than ever we need to acknowledge our fellow man in a manner consistent with our American Culture. All too often the only wave we see while driving is the middle finger wave. My BRAND is the American Flag and what it stands for. I served under it, I respect it, and will continue to wave at my fellow Americans, not because it's the trend, but because it's the respectful and decent thing to do.

Too mainstream for ya huh? I wave (when I remember) because it's nice to be friendly and I imagine it makes most people feel good.
OP probably only listens to bands you never head of as well. And bands you like he was listening to their first EP from 5 years ago. The new stuff isnt as good....

Few months back I was driving back with wife and kids, when I noticed a somewhat familiar brick shape approaching from the opposite direction. Back then I was happy maybe a little naive, not having a care in the world, a simple happy man. I slowly moved my hand to a 12 o clock position while extending fingers, revealing the palm of my hand into a gesture known to Jeep folk all too well. I even had a little smile on my face, just to realize I was waving at a Bronco…. A mother Fing Bronco Man, the other driver waved back ????. Wife asked if everything was ok with me, as she recognized the look of disgust on my face, kids started crying in the back. I replied “I’m good hun, all good” but inside I knew what I have done was just wrong. For the rest of the trip I drove in silence. You see we can’t go around throwing waves left and right there are real consequences to our actions. Ever since that day I stopped the wave I might find the strength to do it again one day, but only the time will tell.

Just to add to what another poster said about VW's waving to each other. I have a 73 f100 and others with older vehicles will wave - and I also wave at older vehicles.

Seems like there is a good group of grumpy OG’s that miss the days when their vehicles broke down more frequently.

They are probably on other message boards now complaining about how email ruined the good old days of faxes.

It's not just a Jeep thing. When I had my FJ Cruiser and my Mustang, I always waved at others when I met them and many of them waved back. When I had my TJ and now with my JT and JL, I wave at all of them I meet and it makes me feel good when they wave too. A little bit of good in this world today.

I like the wave but I grew up waving at just about anyone driving any kind of truck Just a sign to say "I see you working hard". Now its not quite the same but still do it out of habit. Makes me feel good when i get a wave so why not make someone else feel good. More impressive to me is that if you are stuck on the side of the road for any reason in a jeep, you can't pretty much count on another jeep owner to pull over and check on you. Happened once to me on the interstate , we were pulled over to let one of our kids go to the bathroom(always an emergency at 2 years old). Someone stopped to check on us. A little embarrassing but much appreciated.

I find myself waving at Jeeps when I drive my wife's vehicle
Exactly. My wife has a Land Rover and I catch myself raising two fingers off the steering wheel almost every time I get in it. She just shakes her head at me! ?

✌ Vee- for Victory all the way. This is what I throw most of the time. Many times (I was in the US Navy) I think of the old timers (now) that drove these and other rigs to Victory so I could spend my hard earned money how I please (as long as I don't tell the wife) , LOL. More Jeeps
-Story time-
My wife has a right hand drive Jeep she delivers mail rurally in. Its a working Jeep breaks all the time. Yet, hardly anybody waves to her (when she is just driving), one guy told her RHD Jeeps aren't real jeeps. She said " My Jeep works every day I need it to. It pays our bills, my husband wrenches on it in the dark/along side the roads/ and in all seasons. You go to the mall, maybe play in some mud. I think my Jeep is just as much Jeep as your Jeep, maybe more. He now waves vigorously when he sees my wife or other RHD Jeeps.

They had a nice chat and she told him about my other Jeep and he was like "I love that Jeep" (my 1998 wrangler -sold) and she saw him recently and he asked about it (not seeing it). She told him we have the pumk'n orange Rubicon Gladiator. He was like ...blah blah another whole conversation.
-story end-
My point being who does it hurt waving or not waving? If you don't wave you might just miss an opportunity to make a friend. My wife and I almost always wave or throw the V for Victory.
