Yeah, but when you’ve got 1,500 miles in front of you, it’s easy to wish that it is.
There's a joke with that saying. But separately, thank you for your service to the country.

You have a "real" truck now, which I can't fault you for. But holy hell mate, you must've had some serious steering issues. Metalcloak has some additional bracing available, I haven't jumped on that yet. I've crossed the US in my JT multiple times and in Utah the speeds were over 90 as you mention. Never once felt unsafe or unstable. Also, ground tent camper here so bed space is all cargo for me haha. As for governors, pretty sure my Ranger was limited at 95 and my F150 is 100. They pretty much do that to all trucks don't they?
110 MPH on a Sport, though I haven't had mine faster than 95 or so

IDK, I routinely roll down the interstate in mine at 75-80. Feels fine.

As for the OP, different strokes for different folks. Have fun with the tree fiddy I reckon.

The Gladiator you traded will sell, congrats on the F350 it sounds like it will serve your purpose. I have a gladiator and a Ram 2500 both have their individual purpose.
That’s a notable conversation too. My car insurance went down $40 a month with the F350.

And Las Vegas is one of the most expensive places in the country for vehicle insurance. My F350 is $190 a month. When I go to having two vehicles, say a Jeep and a BMW i3, my car insurance is $500 per month. Three vehicles is $600 per month (I tested that briefly), and so on.

I’m not Eliza Bezos or Elisa Musk.

I setup a Google alert to keep up with any news involving an F350. Seems they keep winning in traffic accidents. The drivers are often times walking away. The other parties are getting tearful farewells and hymns sung.

It is what it is, as they say.

I would shop around, I have a 20 Gladiator, 19 Ram 2500, 18 corvette ZO6, 12 Harley SG. I pay $227 a month for full coverage on all with $1000 deductible.

It’s all about your zip code.

In Florida, I had a ragtop 2019 Corvette and a 2019 VW Golf R4 or whatever the hell they called that racey little thing. $200 a month for all of it at my “somewhat” rural dwelling.

Here in Vegas, there’s gang bangers and car thieves all over the city. Not to mention, the endless billboards advertsing lawyers wanting to sue for any car accident. The evening news is dominated by attorney commercials too.

They were giving themselves some room at $48k. Auction price on a 2022 diesel Rubi is about $55k.

Manheim is showing 4 of them sold during Nov for $53k, $55k, $55.5k, and $54.5k.

Cool, we're comparing a Gladiator to an F350.

Makes sense. Same segment and all.
Isn’t there a worthy conversation about that when inflationary pressures have caused “light duty“ pickups like the Gladiator to cost as much as “heavy duty” pickups?

Honestly, I think Jeep Wranglers and Gladiators have gotten way, way overpriced. I bought a reasonably loaded Wrangler Rubicon in 2012 in the low $30k range. Now it’s how much? Is it worth that?

I have lived in Las Vegas for 20 years. There are not gangbangers and car thieves everywhere. Gee whiz. We live in a nice area of Vegas and have never had a problem. I work in downtown and still no problems. Parked a BMW M outside and no issues.

I have two cars (JEep and Toyota) and my insurance is only 1200 a year in Vegas. Who the heck insures your vehicle here? Seriously??? $6000 a year for two cars? Me thinks you exaggerate greatly. I had the Toyota and a BMW M insured up till buying the Gladiator this year and still together they were no more than 1400 a year. Full coverage, low deductible. USAA which I assume you can get since you said you were in the military???

I15 in utah is 80 mph and I had zero problems zipping on by other cars with my Sport S. Steering is tight as a drum.

Good luck with your 350. For what you want to do (tow and drive cross country a lot it is a good truck). Though I might have gotten a 2500 unless you are planning on a really big fifth wheel to tow in which case that is a good choice.

But I do agree with everyone. I am perplexed at why you bought it in the first place.

I agree, they each have a purpose, we have a Silverado 2500 HD and a jeep gladiator both get used weekly

If I was given a house in Las Vegas, I would sell it and move, I don’t think there is any reason I could live there although I do like snow and I’m guessing they don’t have snow either

Okay, these “gangbanger” folks were “imaginary” when they visited my 55+ gated community in the middle of the night and tagged lots of things, cars, garages, sidewalks, etc.

I live in the high rent district too, and photos don’t lie…

I did not say there are no gang members. Still does not mean they are “everywhere”. Again, I have been in Vegas 20 years so I dare say I know what I am talking about.

Where is your 55+ community? What high rent district area?

Certainly not Sun City Anthem or Summerlin one. You are not in the NW part of town. Every city every single major city has issues to places not to live. That does not make the whole city terrible. There are gangs in Salt Lake City.

Hell, there are gangs in Kansas….”everywhere”

https://www.ojp.gov/ncjrs/virtual-library/abstracts/sorry-dorothy-it-kansas

Basically dont rip open a city you just moved to until you have lived here long enough. You said you are retired. If so, there are many other places to live.

And again, insurance is not what you say it is unless you have a bad insurance company or bad history for insurance.

Sorry to rain on your parade, but the map says I live in the NW area of Vegas.

Your experience is just that, your experience. And lens into the world.

I’ve made two 911 calls about gunshots at night. And I know what gunfire sounds like…

You are not raining on any parade.

The NW is a huge area goes from a bad area (down by Lake Meade and Rainbow) where I would not live on either side of the 95. to what is now the real NW which is Centennial and Sky Canyon which is an awesome part of town.

If you are nearer to the Rainbow curve I feel sorry for you as you chose the wrong part of town which anyone can do in any city.

What I am saying is that they are not “everywhere“. Every single city has crime and gangs. I was a law enforcement officer. You have made a blanket statement which one could do to any city and is not really accurate.
