4920 mile review and questions

Love my Gladiator so far. I’ve been really happy with everything, haven’t had any problems or issues and it’s treated me great. I’ve done some low speed off-roading and some higher speed trail cruising both in 4-Hi and it has performed exceptional. I’m glad I made the switch from a Silverado to a Gladiator.

Approaching 5000 miles, I have a couple of questions:

How many free oil changes do you get? Is it something I should use up at my dealership before changing it myself?

Is it a good idea to keep it changes around every 5000 miles or go to 7500? Right now I believe my oil life is at 45% which would make it close to 9,000 miles before it reaches 0 which I’m sure not waiting that long.

Any other info I should know or keep a look out for?
just my opinion:
1. Do as much of your own service as possible. Before you go to the dealership ask yourself if you want to be without your vehicle for a minimum of two weeks? That’s the minimum time its’s going to take for them to fix what they screw up. STAY AWAY FROM DEALERSHIP SERVICE IF AT ALL POSSIBLE!
2.Should you ever consider using the dealership service, REFER TO #1.
3. Change your own oil/fluid and filters with good name brand like Mobile or Pennzoil. You don’t need the high price oils. Change every 5k.

Gladiator and Wrangler 3.6L are about the easiest oil change to do yourself
As far as Jeeps, yes - but I guarantee my little car is easier.
Reach under, pull drain plug, let it drain into pan below. Then reach over right fender, unscrew oil filter, screw new filter on, etc. No cartridge to mess with, no hassle.

Never have had a dealer mess up an oil change except the one time - first oil change they did on my first JT - they put in 6 quarts. No big deal - they resolved the issue by taking it back in while I waited and doing it all over again.
I take it in, and wait. doesn't take long. The one dealership even sends me a quick video of the work being done to show they really ARE checking things.
...........and I'm a long-time mechanic myself. No disposal worries, etc. I work on so many vehicles for others - there's times I let someone else do the brainless/mindless stuff.

I’m sure many people have good experiences with dealerships. if you’re one of those, ?. Unfortunately, I’m not one of them. Can’t and won’t recommend any dealers. Last 5 trips to 4 different dealerships resulted in 5 bad experiences.
If you’re are a tech that does good work correctly and honestly, thank you. Your profession needs more of you.
