I went to a local shop to get some knowledge on a 2.5” 35s lift setup (for road use and no gear)this is what the guy recommended: TeraFlex 2.5” coil spring and spacer lift, TeraFlex FALCON SP2 2.1 mono tube shocks, rubicon express front lower fixed control arms,TeraFlex Falcon 2.1 steering stabilizer, and TeraFlex Alpine IR Adjustable front track bar. Is this a good setup, do I need all of this for a road only ride without towing anything regularly? ALSO IS IT NORMAL TO BE CHARGED OVER 1,500 JUST FOR LABOR! THEY SAID IT WOULD ALSO TAKE 7-9 HOURS AT A RATE OF $140 PER HOUR!

More will come in to comment..

But it took me 7-9 hours to install my own lift on my JK several years ago. It was the first lift I’d ever installed, by myself, on my back, in my driveway, with hand tools. If they are a pro shop with a lift I’d expect 4-5 hours tops.

The $140/hr seems fairly reasonable, maybe a little steep. Not the duration though IMO.

Thank you! I want to do it myself but don’t feel comfortable doing so. I just wish since they claim to hires extreme professionals that they would have faster install time. No big deal tho!

I wouldn't spend money on fixed arms. They should be adjustable.

Sounds like they are a Teraflex dealer. Literally went to a shop yesterday. Said Metal Cloak has one of the better lifts. Then he pointed out all the pluses. Kinda dogged on all they other lifts I was asking about. Yes he's a Metal Cloak dealer

I like the AEV Dual Sport. My recommendation is to take your time, determine your need/wants then do your suspension once. Frequently people will peace mill the lift and not be happy with the results then end up changing everything out again.

Well when I checked with multiple places around MetalCloak was highly recommended by independent dealers. They didn't say anything bad about the other lifts. I know after doing months of research I did go with the MetalCloak gamechanger lift and I loved it. My buddy has the Teraflex lift and feels the same. So mostly it will be preference.

Did you end up replacing the front drive line? Diesel or gasser? Loaded down with camping gear most of the time? Pros and cons of the AEV if you've found any? That's been my thought is for the AEV for awhile now.

Some of my suggestions come from personal experience gained with my gas/auto Gladiator. I am currently running the Mopar lift and did not replace drive shafts. To be able to correct/add caster I am running MetalCloak lower control arms. After adding steel front bumper and winch the front end sits about 1.5 inch lower than the rear. I would like to level it out. I have seen Gladiators equipped, like mine, with the AEV 2.5-3” Dualsport RT lift and I like the stance.

That every helpful i personally like TeraFlex after doing lots of research. The guy was very nice and sad that all the mentioned parts in my original post were the parts he was getting for his own JT based on matching all the parts and his preferences!

Big time AEV Kool-Aid drinker here (wheels, steering stabilizer, and tire & gearing programmer at the moment). If/when I get around to lifting, I won’t look anywhere else.

My two cents…a LOT of aftermarket vehicle components (I.e. Suspension) that I see around town look like cheap s**t.

AEV items are well made (I.e. The steering stabilizer is by Bilstein) and should age well with the vehicle. While their items aren’t cheap, they are worth the cost from a “buy once, cry once” standpoint….in my opinion.

There are plenty of good options out there though.

A lot of great choices out there including Metalcloak, Synergy, Clayton. I ultimately decided on the EVO 2.5” stage 2 and love it so far. I plan on beefing up the steering components with Synergy or Metalcloak in the near future.

For road use and no gear, you could also go with an AEV 2" spacer lift for 35's. I did that on the wife's JLU and it's a fantastic kit. Under $500 and still rides like the day we purchased it. Easy driveway install as well.
