Idiot liberals - Watch MSNBC and read Huffington Post and think they are the truth with no exposure to opposing view points.

Idiot conservatives - Read Breitbard and watch Fox with no exposure to opposing view points.
Lazy argument to lump Breitbart with FNC as "conservative". FNC is fake controlled opposition (shuts down guests when they bring up a name or topic they don't want).

Not going down the rabbit hole anymore on a Jeep forum, but dang, normies still gonna normie.

Shocker, this is what happens when you invest in a flawed technology that customers don’t want for political reasons. Toyota is the only major manufacturer that has publicly stated that EVs are not the universal answer for the future and they will continue investing in ICE and hybrid technology.

I don't think smart anyone reads much from any published source, personally.

Also 'woke' has become such a word play mealy mouth issue on the right that it's become meaningless as a rallying cry.

Jimbo: 'What are mad as hell about today Buck?'
Buck: 'Wokeness'
Jimbo: 'Right, the fuck we are!'
Buck: 'Yes and we will take over the world!'
Jimbo: 'Hey Buck, can you remind me what wokeness is'
Buck: 'It's hive mind'
Jimbo: 'Oh right Buck, how could I forget?!'

<Replace Jimbo and Buck with Pinky and Brain> and you have the modern day right wing conservatives.
I've never heard any free-thinking populists / conservatives have that conversation (You could make up a similar themed conversation about other groups as well, to cast them in a negative light).

The choosing of "Jimbo" and "Buck" for the names shows an emotional bias by you to make anyone against societal degeneration labeled as "progress" look like a dumb country bumpkin. I hope you can acknowledge that bias.

The decline happening though is real, related to some of the ideas in your quoted post.

Sorry mods I really am done getting off the rails of the original topic.

I'm curious to see how EV tech can continue to progress, hopefully not being propped up. Battery manufacturing/sourcing will need to come a long way before it's actually beneficial/humane, but I think there will be healthy mix of options that will even out over time.

One thing I've noticed over the years and the back and forth, is that those who have the loudest voices typically have the least to say.
It's like they can't distinguish quality from quantity, and louder is better.

Immature assumes that there Is a step change coming in terms of battery technology. Which would be required for a pure EV to ever actually compete with ICE. No guarantee that’s coming.

Instead of the government trying force EV's on us. Let the market decide. Think that you will have a better product in the end.

Market is deciding, Ford isnt losing money because they don't sell, they're losing money because they're ramping up to meet demand and investing in R&D. Ford is selling every ev they can make as fast as they can make them and making profits on each one, the issue is they're not able to produce enough yet.

Nope. Not a fan of them either.

I find it very entertaining how everybody assumes that me calling out a particular news source as questionable means that I favor other questionable news sources instead. I don’t think anybody would argue that there are better places to get your information than from these kinds of outlets.

But don’t let facts get in the way of a good story.

I guess this thread is just destined to become another “EV bad” shitstorm. Just mentioning the term EV seems to trigger some people, and they’ve already started to show up, right on cue. Just like making a statement of “hey, I don’t trust this news source, can you provide a different one” seems to trigger people as well. It was my fault for thinking there was actually a decent conversation to be had here beyond this pettiness.

And please, don’t take this as an attack on anybody. It isn’t. It’s just me lamenting about how I wish we could do better as a community in this discussion.

It’s unfortunate that this topic always seems to get overrun by those who parrot incomplete or straight up bad information about it. We always seem to get scores of people who have no idea how business, development, or incentivizing actually works, and they always seem to show up here the loudest. And they always seem to go attack those whom they perceive disagree with them or might have a slightly different viewpoint.

One day we might have an earnest conversation about electric vehicles and the hurdles that manufacturers face as they roll them out. But clearly, it is not today.
I traded my Tesla Model 3 for a Gladiator just last week, right before the interest rate hike. Yay me! The Tesla was easily the best car I ever owned... My only problem was that I got the standard range and not the long range. Waiting for charging on a road trip gets old fast, no matter what people say.

I'll prob own another Tesla in the future, or some other EV... But I'm going to wait and see how they evolve first.

Hah. The country bumpinks have been warning about "societal degeneration" since the civil rights movement.

Jimbo and Buck know that. They don't like it because they can't control it and it ain't a bout them, it's about others. But Jimbo and Buck are scared and afraid and lashing out. They like to 'other' others.

It stands true.

They really just need to fix charging infrastructure and charging speed. It’s better than ICE in every other way. I was not on board until I rented a Tesla during my Canadian vacation. The fucking torque is just nuts. Can’t even explain it in words.

I was pretty skeptical but hell, now I’m hoping they release a 4xe Gladiator. I’m tellin ya, EVs will be the norm in this country 20 years from now whether we like it or not. EVs can be a huge win for the domestic natural gas industry which is another plus. It wouldn’t surprise me to see major energy companies like CenterPoint, Duke Energy, and PG&E lobby for it as a matter of fact.

The ethics of its resources are another story though.

Edit: I couldn’t care less about the environmental effects. Not because I don’t care about the environment (I do), but because I know there’s no such thing as “clean energy” in the way we consume it.
