You can do the same thing to a JT door as you can a JL. They are identical. If you liked what you did to your JL I'd just do that again.

Like @sharpsicle said they’re the same. That’s why there’s that goofy wedge at the bottom behind the rear door.

Here's what I did to solve the same problem. Very simple and didn't cost me a penny.

Disconnected the door arm from the door frame and pushed it back into the door. I then removed the door retention strap from it's "peg":

I had a short velcro strap laying around from something (might have come wrapped around a tow strap/rope) but you could use any thing; paracord, nylon webbing, etc.:

I attached this through the loop of the door strap and adjusted the length to my liking:

Slip the new loop onto the door "peg":

Et voila!

I've actually done this with bothe rear doors. The door wiring harness is long enough that this doesn't cause it to be overstretched (or really stretched at all) and I have the straps at a length that allows me to open the front door without smacking the two together.

Nice I was just about to suggest this.

Could you share a pic of the peg tho please? did you actually unbolt it or just unpin it?

I don't have a pic of that handy but all I did was unbolt the arm from the door frame (in the first two pics you can see one of the two bolts that held it to the door jam) and pushed it into the door. I did not disconnect that arm in any way other than unbolting it from the door frame. I then returned the bolts to their original holes so that a) I wouldn't loose them in the garage and b) if for some reason when I am out and about i decide I want it reconnected, I can simply pull the arm back out of the door and reattach to the door frame.

Maybe later when I put some pants on, I can go out and grab a pic and add to this post.
