So i finally pulled the trigger after months of putting it off and routed a 6 foot USB cable under the center console, behind the window unit, behind the HVAC/Start panel, and behind the 8.4 poking out the top under my Ram Tough Track. Very happy with the routing, and even though it was a huge pain in the ass to get the center console out because of my under-seat compressor and armorlite making it difficult to access certain plugs needed to remove the center console, eventually it all came together.
But now that it's all together, my 8.4 is all kinds of fucked up. The accent color went blue. Okay not a big deal. Then it froze on hitting nav. Not great. Restarted truck and tried to find the settings for accent color... half my touchscreen presses dont register. some register some of the time, some register all of the time, and some register an inch to the right (when i hit apps it selects settings for example, but when i hit HVAC it doesn't select nav).
Other oddities: the screen wont show what the HVAC temp is set to. It will show when i change fan speed, and pressing the buttons DOES change the actual temp the HVAC blows (got it blowing hot, medium, and cold air) but the screen always says LO no matter what. Bluetooth connects, but android auto doesn't.
Process of elimination:
all buttons on the window/locker/offroad+ panel work fine
all buttons on the HVAC controls work, all knobs twist and function as desired (though not all show they are functioning on the 8.4)
truck starts normally
JSCAN only registered one code, and it was "satellite antennae circuit open" but it was a stored code, not a current code and when I cleared it, it did not come back.
tried looking up a 8.4 Unconnect force restart sequence, but could only find one on a dodge and the directions were to hold the top right of the screen for 10-20 seconds and i held that position for a minute and nothing happened.
tried disconnecting my battery, but the aux battery foiled me. Don't know how to disconnect the aux battery.
Worth noting, i took pictures of the back of my radio before removing it, and put the plugs back in the exact same spot i took them out of. If you've been back there you know there are 5 plugs that with identical fittings
I put them back in:
red____________pink_blue_white_gray as in the photo i took
So... please help! What else should i be checking, how do i force restart a radio that wont register the presses i need to make to reset it, and how do i disconnect the aux battery?
