Quite the take and I'm trying to grasp what you are saying but what I got is that 'city folk' and people without mechanic skills shouldn't own jeeps.
It is often referred to as “gatekeeping,” and there is an entire section on the Reddit platform (r/gatekeeping) devoted to it. You can’t call yourself a serious runner if you don’t have a chest-strap heart monitor. Nobody with an aluminum frame bicycle is a real cyclist. You must have titanium or carbon fiber.

What kind of off-roading are you talking about?
Anything requiring low rpm finesse. The engine goes in and out of its boost curve as it fluctuates in the lower RPM range.

At speed, its smooth power and better gas mileage make it a great road car.

I noticed that and I quickly started to wheel in "manual" mode. Typically, in 4L it wants to be in 2nd gear, even in manual from a stop, which feels a lot more jumpy than downshifting into first. Once I figured that out and put in in 1st gear, the torque comes on much smoother.

Folk hand-wringing over which lift kit to get as if there's a tinker's damn worth of difference with the same components:

"I can't decide between the MetulBraket X-1000, and the ClayFlex ConiferGame Series..."

Dude:
You like square tube looking control arms and big logos under your truck; get this brand.

You like that grade 8 bolt unfinished look on all your crap; get that brand.

You like value and don't care about bragging over brand identity online or at the Jeep club; get Skyjacker.

Just make sure the geometry on all the related parts is complementary, spend the money on good shocks, and your golden.

Yeah I'm referring to manual mode and sometimes 4L or 4H (4H will exacerbate it) but now I'm on 40s and still factory gears for the time being so even in 4L tip-toeing through a mudhole will cause a sudden power loss or surge, though it first became obvious on 37" KO2s. In a mudhole. With the doors off. Trying not to get the interior dirty. Then it surged with the diffs locked sending up 4 glorious fountains.

And on top of that, once it goes into boost it has to bleed off additional fuel system pressure and it does that via a sustained rpm surge which further exaggerates the problem.

That my wife's Bronco is just as awesome as my JT
Fact. Id get a JT once I have the $$$ to compliment my Bronco, plus need a truck again

Dont see why a 5.7 was never an option, would have had serious sway over my decision, even if it was the nerfed 370hp version

Okay that makes since. I’m on 40s but regeared to 4.88. I do find that there is still some annoying throttle lag both daily driving and on rocks. I think a tune will fix that. Just waiting for the new hpfp

That is a hilarious story. I can only imagine how frustrated you were. I had a similar experience in a sand dune. I had the doors and roof off and tried going up a very long, steep dune on a hot day. Needless to say I didn’t have enough speed. As I was spinning the tires coming to a stop, waves of sand were coming in the vehicle. I will never get all of it out

Jeep folk are suckers for garbage from catalogs. It’s embarrassing. Saw a guy with a black wrangler with ALL the orange plastic covers for everything the other day.
Other than that. It’s sad how nice the weather is here and how many Jeeps have a hard top with the windows rolled up on their still installed doors. Seen one Jl with doors off since I’ve lived in socal. Maybe 2 with half doors. With the tops still on them. Jeeps are everywhere. Windows up A\c on and 75-80 degrees out with no chance of rain.
When I lived in Hawaii, we all sold our doors to the five-oh production for filming purposes.
They were all just in a heap in my back yard anyway and it rained every single day.
The judgemental attitude coming from the CJ era jeepers who don't have tops or doors is quite palpable.
They won't even look in your general direction, lol

I wish but it won't, lol. Ask me how I know...

Did you come out looking like a breaded fish fillet, lol?

My truck was about 6 mos old and pristine. My buddy and I were going sailing on nice Florida April day but it was a bit too windy so I decided to check out this place I'd heard about thinking I could be gentle enough to keep nature on the outside. Uh nope. But it was a great time and there's no going back from there.

I looked a kid who just got buried in the sand at the beach. I had pounds of sand covering me and it was inches deep on my seats and floor boards. I only had the Jeep for maybe two months so I wasn’t stoked on that but I guess it’s better to get it over with and make it dirty.

That Jeep wave thing. ?✌?I like waving to people getting out of their jeeps in the parking lot. “Do I know you?” Yeah, we dated the same girl in high school.?
This should cover the whole “should I wave” question! ?

I'm secretly jealous of the rock rails that Tacomas have. That kick out in front of the rear wheel is perfect. Toyota crowd has more functional bolt ons than Jeep does....
