I watched that vide a few months ago - the guy is a hoot, interesting to watch and he made it more-so with his antics. I bet I bookmarked it, it was such a good one.

The bearing and journal sizes are different.
Bearing materials are also different.

PUG changes -

This is where I got the clearance info. I do not doubt the physical and material properties are different, just the clearances where lubrication come in appear to be the same.

Yeah, makes sense. The numbers look awfully familiar.........

Shall we have some fun?

AMC 258 crankshaft bearing clearances - right from the book -
The main bearing correct clearance is 0.0254 to 0.0635 mm (.0010 to .0025") for all main bearing journals,

Pentastar crankshaft bearing clearances -

AMC 258 - .0010 to .0025
Hmmmmm

I guess my point is - naw, won't get into it here as I'd have to go waaay back into my college days and performance engine building books. It would really mess with people and cause no end to arguments because of beliefs gathered over years.

So I'll leave it at that.

I wonder what bearings and lower end the 3.0 uses vs the 3.6.
Cams and phasers will definitely be different. Timing chains likely quite different. The PUG is a different animal from the original 3.6.

Thank goodness we don't have direct injection, on the other hand - we'd have more HP if we did.
Give and take.
There is a guy on You Tube that tears down a Maserati .. I am telling you @shadows papa there was a lot of similarities but some differnces also

Already been discussed between Hootbro and myself - maybe you missed those posts?

People are looking at the wrong things to "compare" but then it is the internet..........those people would have to takes years of classes to understand, and they don't care to.

What the heck are you watching ...lol yeah sorry didn't see that. I do a fair share of shade tree and am not above going to the tube for video .. but careful what I watch for true technical information..
I like the motor city mechanic.
