It’s a sad day for my baby. I got rear ended by a Ford F-250. I don’t know what hurts more…

Unbelievably this happened in slow and roll traffic on a busy street during rush hour that people use instead of the freeway. How he managed enough speed in such a short distance he travelled is a mystery. I was not going more than 5 MPH. I feel that I failed my Jeep for not seeing him in time and getting out of the way.

He is insured and admitted fault to the police. It is a 2022 with only 8k miles on it. I’m 58 years old and was planning this to be my last car. I keep great care of it. I will be prepared for a fight from his insurance company. I will not accept anything less than a frame replacement and all new OEM parts from Mopar for anything that has even slight damage to them. If anyone has gone through this before, please share your experience. My hope is that it is totaled but that might be unrealistic.

Thank you all for your kind comments. I have no fractures and only a case of cervical sprain (whiplash).

Glad to hear you weren’t physically injured worse. I know from experience that in the state I reside in currently that they pretty much call everything a no fault so I’m glad to hear the other side admitted fault

Looking at a new frame and bed at a minimum which should be sufficient cost to total this one out. Even if they attempt to fix it, there would be tremendous diminished value that it would not make sense to fix it. At least the other party accepted fault, is insured and isn't being difficult.

Best of luck, sorry this happened and keep us posted.

Between repair costs and diminished value I bet it totals
Good no one was hurt/injured. Rear-enders are not always kind to occupants.

Hard to know what else is damaged - body mounts, for example, are hydraulic, any suspension parts damaged? Bumper and all parts, frame, bed - did the bed contact the cab?
So many unknowns.

Every state has their own rules for when something is considered totaled.
In California, it's If the total cost of repairs plus the salvage value of the vehicle is greater than the vehicle's actual cash value, it's considered a total loss.

I'd personally push for it being totaled but then I can't see the truck and inspect it personally and it's obviously up to the owner and insurance company what happens.
Imagine the labor in such a thing.
I'd not sign anything too quickly..........

States don’t have anything to do with totaling a vehicle…. Maybe there’s some weird exception somewhere. Strictly a business decision by insurance.

I’ve seen a lot less effed up trucks get totaled…. Frame involvement is usually a can of worms they don’t want to worry about.

Sorry to see that! That will be an expensive repair if it doesn’t total out

This frame is definitely bent.
