Windows stopped working

I have a 2022 gladiator rubicon, and my windows have now stopped working for the second time. After taking it to the stealer the first time, they tore apart a lot of the electronics, removed the PCM, battery, headlight, etc., and they concluded to me that they found a chafed wire, and it's fixed. Well, it's not. They quit last night with the driver's side down, so there is no taking the boat to the lake on the 4th. I unplugged all four doors and the battery, unsure what to do. I know there is no fuse, it seems like a ground issue somewhere. I don't want to take it back to the same stealer. They left the truck in the parking lot unlocked for several nights, scratched my fender, and still have not fixed that yet. Any help on how to troubleshoot this issue would be greatly appreciated.

By any chance have you take the Jeep doors off before that? The first time I took the doors off and back on I’d all kind off electric problems with the doors, I managed to bend some pins in the drivers door connector.

That, or pins can even end up pushed back in the connector and not bent. Looking fine, but not far enough through and latched so they miss making contact.

Yes, I did take the doors off once a few months ago. The windows stopped working after that. This time we didn't take the doors off and they stopped working again. I unplugged all the doors and started the engine. Plugged them all back in and nothing. I unplugged the PCM as well. I do hear that there is another battery underneath the initial battery so unplugging things to try and get a reset is difficult.

Reset isn't at all likely to be the problem when one function like this stops. It seems to be the answer for all Jeep ills, though.

BCM is where the windows function is - but a "reset" is such a long shot......

No, totally disconnecting isn't hard at all. All you need to do is take the negative cables off the top of the IBS on the main battery, then take those two black cables apart. You have then just disconnected BOTH batteries.

I'm still betting a door connector issue - pins can be pushed back and not make contact. You could also try contact cleaner, and use a strong light and magnifier to look in the connector and make sure all pins are sticking through to the exact same height. If one looks like it's not quite as far up as the others - it's not right. They must all stand equal.

I will check each connector. Question though, if one connector say the rear passenger door connector has a bad pin, would that stop all windows from working? So I need to make sure all four connectors are perfect?

It's simply a matter of taking the connector loose and looking at it.

So it's the connectors all along. I don't think any pin is bent or pushed back. But at least I know now what the problem is. And the dealer telling me they found a chafed wire was a complete lie. They did the same thing I did, and suddenly they worked so they made it up.

I do not excuse what the dealer told you but I understand why they did what they did.

I work aircraft avionics systems at a level of complication many times above vehicle electronics. Sometimes there is just problems that when all normal troubleshooting fails, a connector reseat fixes the problem. We call that in the industry "FM" or "Fucking Magic".

I had to have my drivers side door harnesses replaced. Both the harness in the door and on the Jeep. Well over a $3,000 job. Thank god it was under warranty. I still can’t believe Jeep hasn’t done a recall on that door connector. So many people have problems with them. It’s a garbage set up. The pins are so flimsy.

I haven’t seen anything better. They have way too many pins on the front doors with all the gadgets. I can’t figure out why they need that much wiring.

The JKs never had that issue. There are plenty of other options the could have used. Like round thicker pins that don’t bend with a slight wind blowing. Like they do on boats

Yeah, see between my Jks and jt i’ve never even heard of a problem till now. A quick search shows others have that problem too. Just played with the front one here in the parking lot. Some of the pins are small…. But unless it’s broken, it inserts itself pretty squarely.

I have generally stayed away from electric windows and doors for most vehicles I have owned. Had a Toyota camry and Jeep Commander that had electric doors and windows. Here in Arizona, after a few years these items always break, and never function well after being fixed or replaced. Generally are folks finding that they are reliable on the Gladiators besides ensuring the connectors are plugged in correctly after having the doors off? My 22 Willys was recently totaled by a red light runner. I loved that i had manual everything. However I am now considering upgrading to a Rubicon, though I am very leary of the electric windows and door stuff, especially with the abuse jeep take off road and the extreme heat here wearing things out quickly. Any advice would be appreciated....thank you.

And yet here I sit with a big Rubbermain tub full of old Jeep and Eagle electric window and power lock parts - some of which I installed in my 82 SX4 a few years ago and to this day, the power windows and locks work in that car.
I've had more trouble with the manual window regulators getting dry and stiff and rusty and hard to operate after a few years.
