I definitely want to diode dynamic, just hard to justify the cost at the moment. Might be six months to a year before I can get them. Do you think these oracles are worth 250?
I have them and they are very good. No issues In two years. Although the cut off is severe and these windy back roads at night here in the mountains have me not seeing as far in front when I’m in a corner. They point straight very well which leaves the sides dark.
if you don’t have a lot of twisty roads I would pick them up.

$250 is a good deal. I like mine. The halogens are complete garbage and shouldn't even be allowed on the road. If you are looking for something better, grab the oracles. I've played the, put LED bulbs in Halogen Housings and at the end of the day, they were never that good. Just bite the bullet and get those oracles or sell an organ for the Diode Dynamics.

The Gladiator on the right has LED bulbs in a halogen housing. The Gladiator on the left has Mopar LED lights. The Gladiator in the middle has halogen headlights.

I feel like that’s a misleading picture, since the one on the right also has more lights on than the one on the left, so it’s hard to see what the actual difference in the headlights is. And the one on the left is not facing at the camera as much as the one on the right.

I would be interested in seeing a more balanced version of this photo.

I’ve been running the Oracle Oculus for over 3 trouble free years and love them. My wife’s 4xe has the Mopar led headlights which I think are a little better but the difference is minimal. I want the Diode Dynamics’s elite max but the Oculus are good enough that I can’t justify the $1000.

I love my Oracle lights. Not a fan of the Diode Dynamic looks, but the features are awesome. I love the clean simple look of the oracles. I recently noticed that the bezel underneath the projector was starting to melt and deform. Contacted Oracle and they sent me a brand new set and said to keep the others. Awesome customer service this time. I have the black bezels as well and it’s hardly noticeable it worth the warranty replacement while I could do it.

I just installed the Oracle Occulus Switchbacks this week and I'm very happy with the lights. My only rub with them is that if I want the halo's lit up during the day, without the headlights, I have to turn the light switch on manually to the running light position. The halos aren't powered independently without the headlight on or running light switched on. I'm not sure why Oracle didn't tap the DRL in thier harness to get around this. I've seen people in other places have said the same thing so it's not just me. Oracles response is "turn the running lights on if you want daytime halo's". Just a minor inconvenience but worth mentioning if anyone is considering these as a replacement.
The original Oculus have halo wired separately so mine come on with the ignition. I wouldn’t like having to change the switch for drl.

I'm pretty sure it has to do with these being Switchbacks. The white halos are also amber turns when activated.

I've wondered if it has to do with the drl circuit being powered all the time and the parking light circuit being only powered with the headlights on or manually switched on. But with the parking light circuit powered on, power on is power on. I think the issue is being powered from 2 different sources during a turn signal event but I really don't know. I'm not going to experiment to find out because I don't want to mess the circuitry up in the headlights.

There’s settings for dlr locations that can be changed using a Tazer JL or JScan. Mine had halogen fender lights originally, when I changed them to LED I had to change the settings get the fender lights to be drl. I’m assuming the oculus switch back lights are tapping into the fender circuitry for running lights and turn signals. I had to change the drl location to fender, I’m not sure if that can be done with the halogen fender lights

Yeah I have a Tazer installed and wondered about trying that route too. My JT also originally came with those exceedingly bright halogens ?. I know I can program it for LED lights but I also have aftermarket rear LED's that are plug and play to replace the original factory rear halogen fixtures. Meaning, I didn't have to program the Tazer because the lights have the circuitry already in place. I don't know what would happen on them if I program the Tazer to LED. Probably nothing. I might play with that when I get time.

There’s a setting under lighting for drl location and drl drop out. It might work with halogen fender lights. I hadn’t tried before I changed to LED fender lights but I did have to change the settings for my fender lights to work as drl. Since your switchback lights are tied into the fender light wiring the white halo is powered from the park light circuit and the amber switchback is powered from the turn signal. If the drl fender settings will work with halogen it would send power to the park light constantly which would power the white halo. Worth a try, you can’t really mess it up, just note what the setting is before making any change.

these two settings are the ones I’ve used. Canada (full time) should work

Got it! I will definitely give this a shot. Thanks
So no good on the Tazer. I tried every configuration available along with the full reboot and 2 sleep cycles between each one. It took a minute, lol. However I was able to get a change out of the selection for turn signal location. It activated the amber halo's to stay on all the time and strobe as turn signals when activated. Then when the headlights or parking lights turn on, the amber halo's go white like normal and function as amber turn signals when activated. The only way I can see to make it work is to physically tap into the truck drl wire and jump it to the halo wire of the lights. Just not sure what happens if the halo wire is supplied power from 2 separate sources and the $600 I paid for the lights just doesn't seem worth the risk for me to try it. Anyway, thanks for the idea.
