Dont know if anyone has had this issue, but I just traded my 2020 JL for a 2021 Gladiator. When I have the climate control on Auto, the fan speed is on high no matter what temperature I set this at. In my JL, whenever I would have auto on, the fan would get higher at the low temperature and then automatically turn down as the temperature was adjusted, but its not doing that in the Gladiator. It is on high speed no matter what the temp is set at and never turns down.

Has anyone else had this issue? Is this an easy fix or is this something that the dealer is going to need to fix?

Thanks!

Maybe a Uconnect update?

I will be honest and say I do not even know if any of my Gladiators Auto climate control ever worked right as I always have been in manual control when using the HVAC.

Looking at the wiring diagram for HVAC, the fan is PWM controlled by the HVAC controller with numerous sensor inputs like 4ea duct temp sensors, a sun load sensor and the internal cabin sensor.

To even know what the HVAC controller is even doing, I would speculate it would need a high level bi-directional scan tool to monitor what the sensor inputs are doing and reporting. There might be a false value reporting from one of the sensors that is making the HVAC controller not come off of the high fan speed setting in AUTO.

Maybe somebody like @Lunentucker that has a Tech Authority service manual on USB can give what the HVAC AUTO theory of operation is?

My auto fan speed works correctly, but I rarely use it. Being in Florida, when I turn it on it automatically turns off the recirculation, which I usually have it on to remove moisture/humidity. The only time I have it on auto mode is occasionally when road tripping somewhere to bring in fresh air occasionally.

I would check the temp sensor behind the kick panel below the steering column. On auto the sensor has an internal fan that blows across a sensor ( for the lack of a better word) giving the computer feedback of what the internal temperature is, you should be able to check to see if it is working with a tissue in front of the sensor.

It doesn't turn off the recirculate unless it thinks it's cool enough to do so. The light on the recirc button will go out, but that's because it's taken control of recirc and the button doesn't do anything until you take ti back out of auto. It will definitely use recirc on auto thought, mine does it for sure.
