The stuff most of us fear doing in our own garage.
Note how easily the factory ball joint pops out.

Not only was the U joint broken, but the yoke on the end of the shaft was broken and he had to replace the shaft with a new shaft that had a non broken yoke...Also a bit disappointed he called a broken u-joint a broken axle.
He said, "broke front axle shaft"Your right. I saw the yoke was indeed eaten up, but that was no doubt the result of continued travel after the broken u-joint.
My greater hope was to point out that with all the garbage on the internet today it’d be nice if when you say you broke an axle, it meant that you actually had an axle failure cause the stoppage.
I totally agree with the sentiment that people today need to say what they mean a lot more than what they do; that's for sure.Your right. I saw the yoke was indeed eaten up, but that was no doubt the result of continued travel after the broken u-joint.

Those wheel spacers had nothing to do with the failure, 1000's of people have run spacers here in Utah and Moab for decades, the majority never have an issue with them. Those were Synergy spacers, one of the top 3 spacers made in my opinion. Those wheel spacers in that environment were a disaster waiting to happen.
Okay thanks. Those wheel spacers had nothing to do with the failure, 1000's of people have run spacers here in Utah and Moab for decades, the majority never have an issue with them. Those were Synergy spacers, one of the top 3 spacers made in my opinion.
Your welcome!Okay thanks.

Guess king of the hammers, ultra 4, and ultimate adventure must not be serious people in serious situations. ?Correct again. That screen grab does a good job of showing the yoke is indeed sheared too.
Spacers are not used by serious people in serious situations. They do apply excessive forces to areas not originally designed for them. That said, I’m poor too, so I may use spacers on a show-piece if I did not have the money to do it right.
