What brand bearings?Yukon gears set have had the bearing go out and have seen instances where the pinion gear teeth strippe
Bearing going out and pinions stripping out.
Go with Dana
Damn, that reminds me I need to change gear oil in 4 axles and check out the gears. What brand bearings?
I had a D30 gear set lose teeth after a few years. Never figured out the cause.
crap actually 4 or 5 vehicles are kinda due full fluids changes. 2 Jeeps (at least) and 2 4wheelers.YukonWhat brand bearings?

Yep those are the Good bearings. But let me ask a question why does Yukon say that after just 15 to 20 miles your supposed to stop and let them cool off after being installed . Not tow for so long a time, etc.. if that was the case with Spicer Dana Advantek gears. I would never have made it home from the dealership. I think that cool down bull crap goes to show their gear sets are Junk.Spicer F/R master install kits came with Timken and Koyo bearings. Both are well known for quality. I suggest atleast goes with Dana bearings. When the bearings goes, the teeth goes with it.
Do a search for "differential break in" and you'll find that every after market gear manufacturer recommends the same thing. From the factory they are run in to make them run cooler, but from aftermarket they are not.Yep those are the Good bearings. So your saying when I got my JT with 41 miles on it they had all ready been ran in. Now no offense but that is something I have never heard before. Matter of fact I have watch assembly line straight on the frame out the bay door and on the lot waiting to be picked up on a truck. Not unless Dana is running them in at their factory. I looked it up.
Yukon uses Timken bearings.
Well it more than likely is the pinions themselves that are the culprit but nice to know they use Timken

Yea, from Dana. The supplier knows that few people will even read the manual before driving away, so they (at least partly) break in the gears before delivery. But the aftermarket doesn't, at least not most. I guess there is a treatment you can pay for which helps, but in general they all recommend a break in procedure. So your saying when I got my JT with 41 miles on it they had all ready been ran in. After you all started talking about this break in I believe I see either on Yukon or Revolution or one of them that it was either 800 or 500 miles change oil .Got mine regeared to 5.13 with Revolution gears earlier this week. 4.10 are fine on the flats. Didn't think I needed new gear. One trip to the mountain pulling a light weight trailer (2500lbs) was all it took for me to pull the trigger. Going through the break in procedure now. Got the rem polish too since I have a trip next week. Not sure if I should change the gear oil with them rem polished.
