You don’t though…

The family starts from $32,095
That headline is junk. So you have to pay more for the the more expensive options? Color me shocked. Using the most expensive option out there to try to paint a picture of the whole Wrangler lineup is questionable.

VERY misleading title/subject. You are talking a high-end, loaded V8 Wrangler.
Clickbait.
They can still be bought nicely equipped for a lot less. If you are one who believes that you really must have that V8, then you will afford it.
I see nothing new or different.
Those who want the unnecessary V8 and a loaded vehicle, they've known all this for a long time.
The rest of us can still find them way under the 100K mark.

Clickbait - I expected to see some news, like a big price jump in a typical Wrangler, not rehashing of what we've all already known.
I should have known better seeing the URL.

FYI:

According to Market Watch, the biggest hurdle in new car affordability is rising interest rates. According to their report, the average percentage rate for a new car loan is 7.4 percent and average monthly loan payments are at an all-time high, with reference to Edmunds saying it hit $736. However, there is nearly an 18 percent share of car buyers who have reported that their monthly auto payments are at $1,000 per month or higher in Q3 of 2023. The 17.5 percent of the third quarter is up by 0.4 percent versus Q2. Then add in that many families own more than one car and that becomes a huge financial burden. So, according to one report, that means that you need to make at least $100,000 per year to afford any new car payment.
How do we arrive at that number? If you follow the financial rule that your auto payment should be 10 percent of your income after making a 20 percent down payment and opt for a four-year auto loan, you need to make up to $100,000 per year. That's also exactly what former Ford CEO, Mark Fields, told CNBC in an interview back in September. And that is more than most U.S. households can afford. When looking at average annual incomes, only 37.5 percent of the U.S. can manage such a financial leap, according to the most recent Census Bureau data. Dark, eh? But the problem with that financial advice is that it's not taking other factors into the cost of vehicle ownership.
Maintenance, repairs, tires, and fuel are other factors in vehicle ownership. According to the AAA, it costs an average of $12,182 per year just to own a vehicle and that's without taking loan payments into the equation. That outlay includes depreciation costs, finance charges (the interest on a loan, but not the payment toward principal), insurance, annual fees, and taxes along with the aforementioned expectancies of automotive ownership.
If this sounds like we're circling toward the advice "buy a used car instead," well, not so fast. The average APR for used car loans—again, according to Edmunds—is 11.2 percent with an average monthly payment of $567 per month (used-car financing has traditionally been pricier than new-car financing, since the underlying asset—the car—isn't worth as much). On top of that, the maintenance for an older vehicle—even one that's only five years old—can be even more expensive than maintenance for a new car. It's all news that makes you want to take the bus, or, you know, hang on to the car you already own.

Mis-leading and click bait junk, yes.

However, with today's economy and inflation, any new vehicles that cost (for example) from 50k to 60k are not being scooped up by people that don't have some disposable income to do so.

My 2016 JK had roll up windows, manual locks, and a stick shift. Absolutely loved it. Felt like I was back in high school in the 80s when every car was like that.
Cars are expensive because people want everything on them.

And because the feds require certain certifications for accident protection, air bags, and on and on and on and the EPA says they have to submit the locations of every fan or thing that moves air in the vehicle and if they change it, those reports must be updated, they have to recertify if they change anything on evaporative emissions, and if they don't make a change, they have to file reports stating they are using the same equipment in the same place, they have to pass certain roll-over tests and other impact tests. And there's the weight of all the controls and air bags and so on that make modern vehicles often more heavy than their 1970 counterparts and yet they must get better mpg and pass almost no emissions.

You can live in a world where getting hit at 50 mph pretty much meant death and it took 30% longer to stop once you stood on the brake pedal, vehicles that had holes all over them after just 5 years and I could go on and on, but.........

It’s funny to me…. We live in a world of “influencers” and social media hype that really do not paint a clear picture. Before the JL/JT release, I used to have a lot of young people stop and chat about our jeeps and check things out… most leaned heavily on “what shop did the work for you”…. Flat out I couldent afford to build a Jeep if I relied on a shop to build it.
Having a Jeep and wheeling light to moderate trails- sure anyone can jump on a Jeep trail guide event and have a good time… but most people are looking at the cool factor of 37’s or now 40’s!! And sweet over landing gear…. It’s so quick/easy to have $15, 20, 50k in PARTS going into jeeps anymore it’s unreal.

My advise to anyone new to jeeps- be willing to turn your own wrenches…. Don’t do anything stupid, until you are literally holding the title….. and know that at the end of the day- a built Jeep is a man child toy.

So- while the article is click bait…. Just know someone young and dumb is looking at some instagram/youtube with unrealistic expectations. ???
