Scotty Kilmer is a genuine piece of garbage. All of his lame trash videos are festooned with click-bait and he's a terribly stupid person. If he can't even be honest in his video screen grabs, why would he be honest at anything else? I cant stand that YT puts them in my feed.

He is human filth and his mind has never matured past the 70s and 80s --when he was clearly doing very heavy drugs. His homoerotic love for Toyota is the clearest red flag.
Ive listened to some of the drivel he is spued before about different vehicles and I cant beleieve he is a real mechanic! I think the best course of action is buying the vehicles he deadpans and staying away from the ones he recommends..

What was done to keep those running to those numbers? EGR delete, DEF delete, etc?
Most of those trucks have a tune that turns off the EGR function. With that said, a few of those trucks went 300,000 miles bone stock before deleting.

I can't stand this guy and finally had to tell YouTube to stop recommending his garbage videos.

I had owned my last vehicle 15 years and became *very* familiar with it, Kimer did a video about that model and got nearly everything wrong.

I just assume the same signal-to-ratio for all his productions.

Scotty has a strong bias in favor of Toyota, and anything that is a competitive threat to Toyota, he disses it. He has some fair points sometimes but because he is not an honest critic, he has to be taken with a pinch of salt.

Everyone's favorite YouTube mechanic reviewing a 2023 Gladiator.

Seems enamored with the ZF transmission and despises the Italian-made Diesel Ecoboost.

Now let the fun begin...
I’d check it out, but long ago I swore to myself I would never give him the benefit of even a brief view. The guy is useless.

I wonder how many cars/trucks SNotty's little videos have ruined or sent them to the shop for major repairs. This guy is the poster child for the bottom of the barrel mechanic. But, I bet he makes a fair amount off clickbait and people seem to love him on YT.

Didn't he retire? He is part of the ilk that uses shock tactics to get views.
Kids today think like this: This is good, this bad, this way to do it this way you cannot do it any other way.
They cannot grasp pros and cons, or the idea of trade offs between various ways to get to point A to B. I love my diesel and I love my 3.6, yet I love the eco diesel more. They are both good.

If his information was accurate I might be able to put up with the drivel......instead I feel like I have listened to another SHAMWOW commercial on TV

He keeps talking about the impressive Austrian transmission. But for a transmission actually built in Europe for the Gladiator you need the Italian engine...... LOL

the 850RE in the 3.6 Gladiator he drove is produced by Chrysler/Stellantis with tech licensed from ZF in Germany built and assembled in Kokomo Indiana......
Jeep Gladiator Scotty Kilmer's (Positive) Review of a 2023 Gladiator... 1699063644854

Kokomo Transmission Plant
2401 South Reed Road, Kokomo, Indiana, United States
Floor Space:
3.1 million square feet

The 8HP75 is built by ZF themselves in Germany and imported into the US, and is used behind all Hemi V8 engine applications, including the 5.7L, 6.4L/392, and the 6.2L Hellcat along with the 3.0 EcoDiesel in the Gladiator.....

and for the history of ZF...... Motortrend put much more accurate history lesson together...

That's what I was saying - he talked of the Austrian built ZF and yet............ wrong wrong.
The other transmission used in Wranglers that is actually built BY ZF is the one in the 4xe.
Otherwise, it's been made clear here and in many other places - the one behind the 3.6 is built in the USA under license from ZF.
Certain changes were made so that "Chrysler" could use their own equipment, and that was all reported back to ZF, but it's like so many things - designed by one, built by another.

But you don't have to watch the whole video to know just how bad the rest is.
I hate to bring up a sore topic for some - but I'd call him a QUACK.

His formal education is a Masters In Anthropology.

He grew up with his Grandfather teaching him some mechanics working in a gas station garage that his father owned. He eventually got on a public access TV station in Houston and had a car show on that which ran for a few years and is were his personality came into play.

When it comes to anything in the modern OBDII era and those systems, he is literally out of his depth of experience and knowledge beyond some very basic info.

When Youtube came around and became monetized for content creators, it was a case of being in the right place at the right time and he latched on the short attention span format that was advertiser friendly. His early videos of him in Houston working in front of his home garage and the video footage of his garage looked like it was out of a episode of the TV show Hoarders.

You will almost never see him with any other Youtube Automotive content creators as it will become evident real quick how lacking he is in formal knowledge. About 5 years ago or so, there was a B-roll video floating around where Pennzoil had sponsored a few of the more popular YT automotive channels like Eric The Car Guy, Humble Mechanic, Chris Fix and even Scotty Kilmer. Pennzoil had brought all these content creators to include Scotty Kilmer to one of their engineering research facilities to show them the process. Pennzoil then gave them as one group to work through some type of engineering puzzle that required both hands on and interpreting data to complete the puzzle. The video panned out and showed Scotty Kilmer working alone at a separate table from the group. That pretty much summed up Scotty Kilmer to me.

OMG I knew it! Every time I tried watching I’d think “This guys talking ragtime!” And change the channel..
