I've been trying to figure out where the plant is that all that came from. There was more of a "nest" made that was over my oil filter. I'm at a loss as to what animal made their home in my truck though. My assumption is mouse, squirrel, rat, or chipmunk. Living in the Detroit Metro area, that's all the critters I can think of that I've seen that could easily fit there.

That's got to smell like hell when the truck gets up to operating temp

I'm not the best judge of odors, I'll have to ask my wife when I get back from my trip

Just hose it down a little (not high pressure sprayer), start it up and once it begins warming up keep hosing it off. If they didn't chew anything it should be fine.

When the brake warning light on our business' Dodge Caravan illuminated I opened the hood to see if the brake fluid level was low. Instead I discovered a very large, very terrified rabbit that had been eating the leads to the brake fluid level sensor. He was ok, but had taken a ride under the hood for about a mile.

Mint oil or extract and water in a spray bottle and keep your motor minty fresh for the cold season. Should help discourage that from happening again.
Ill spray just about whatever down there if it keeps away the animals that will chew wires

I second the peppermint extract! We see mice evidence as soon as it gets cold. It’s a mountain thing ?. Sometimes snakes follow the mice. We place, on the two bottom corners of the garage doors, cotton balls with a few drops of extract. We’ve reduced enough of the mice invasion to make it worth while. I also have a small bin with cedar chips with peppermint extract. I place under vehicles. Will not completely deter critters but make a noticeable difference. The big bonus is that it sure smells fresh. I bought pure extract from Amazon. Not the kind you get at the grocery store?

I might just put some mint in my garage. I wish my truck fit in my garage too. I'll have to figure out how to keep the mint in the engine area long term. 3d printing will probably be used to help figure out a solution.

I also did the work to block locations where mice can get into the garage as well. I don't rely on one tool to prevent little stowaways! Wife has threatened to put one of her cats in the garage if mice keep invading!
