Thanks. Hopefully that means mine will be very soon.
What does Blackstone do? And with what sample? I tried Googling "Blackstone" and just got an asset management company, which obviously doesn't apply.

Oil analysis. Send in a sample, pay a small fee and they analyze the oil for various things.

Search the forums here for "Blackstone" or "oil analysis"

Or - look here -

Betcha they, like almost everyone else, is short staffed.
(and in some businesses, the staff that IS there isn't actually working)
It's the new normal.
There have been some holidays in there that slowed things down a bit. You can say "but Thanksgiving was last month"- that put some of November's work into December, and with the holidays there, it's not unusual to see delays in services this time of year.
OF course, it could be a combination - holidays AND being short-staffed.

Try 6 weeks to get a doctor's appointment, then 4 more weeks for results of, and then more - for trying a solution and in the meantime, you can't work or even deal with hobbies much, if at all.
I'm getting a lot more forgiving on the slowness in other industries after dealing with a certain other industry.

I'd not be concerned unless you are seeing something abnormal.
And if there's a problem - it's a bit late to look at the oil analysis.

Blackstone use to be rock solid on a 2 week turn around for over the last two decades I have used them. Then about early to middle last year, that went to 3 weeks. My last one sent late last year took 4 weeks.

I have no clue why the spread now? I know one of the choke points with them is they actually have a person review each sample results and write each report notes. I think this is one thing that AI could take over pretty easily with little fuss. I know it is not the USPS taking their time as tracking my samples sent got there within 3-4 days after mailing

Hurtful pragmatism
I did fail to account for at least one other reason for wanting an analysis - to see how the oil is doing and if it's fine to carry on, carry forward, or if it should be changed now rather than later.

Nah. I replace when it's sampled.
I'm just getting antsy since it's been a month.

As I would be, honestly.
I can say how it should be and rationalize why I should just stop checking my email or the mail box, but reality trumps all and there I am.......... wondering.

I draw it out through the dipstick tube a bit before I expect to change the oil - so part of my reasoning is seeing how clean or not clean the oil is. If I had to wait 4 to 6 weeks, I'd wait to take a sample and then change oil anyway.
I checked in my book and my last oil change was way last fall - but I've only gone 3,500 miles on this oil.

Yeah, I'm sticking with every 5,000 on this one. I don't drive much more than you do, and I don't care if it costs a bit more, I don't trust it to go 10,000.
