Hardest mod yet. Not in terms of difficulty but drilling 58 holes in the body of my truck hurt my soul. Ok, not really but I've been sitting on these armor panels for almost a year because I just couldn't bring myself to purposely poke holes in the sides of my truck. I finally worked up the nerve and pulled the trigger. I literally cringed every time I drilled a hole, lol. Now I just need to get the new black armor dirty so it matches everything else. Or wash the truck, yeah, I could do that. Na, mud is more fun.

Yeah this was a mod that I literally went at a turtles pace. I took my time and quadruple checked everything before proceeding. One wrong hole and I would have been screwed!! I have no doubt there have been others that messed this up.

What prevents water from getting into the holes and creating rust from the inside out?
I used rustoleum paint in each hole before inserting the rivnuts. If you look under the truck where all the body panels are pinch welded, you can see its not a complete weld. Meaning the panels are just stacked together and spot welded along the length. Water will drain out and air will dry it over time.

Nice looking JT; not something that I could/would do. As @PuddleJumper said, that area should already be protected by a good set of sliders that you can trust.
Thanks!! This body damage happened last year with the slider in place. Actually this is what got me thinking about body armor to begin with. Somehow a tree root got in from above the slider and tagged the rocker panel. I wheel pretty hard in this truck so I guess things like this are going to happen.

Good job covering the damage. I was proactive because every dent makes the armor harder to fit.

Thank you. This was the first and so far only body damage I've had. I've broke the passenger tail light out 4 times and actually exploded it the last time. I already had a new one back in the shop so no big deal. I went to Walmart and bought a $7 trailer light and wired it in to get me home. It was beautiful!! Lol I have now built some lights for off roading. Got everything on Amazon and have about $30 invested. They're not pretty but they don't stick out and it only takes about 3 minutes to swap them in.

Needs black screws.
I don't disagree. I also would have preferred a wrinkled powder coat that matches 95% of all other bumpers and aftermarket exterior parts but it is smooth matte black.

Looking good! I've cut both of my Jeep hoods to install the poison Spyder louvers but haven't had the balls to install side armor like that yet. Maybe one day, as I do love the look!

Air isn't the problem, salt is. Air doesn't neutralize salt.
