this isn’t a “scare tactic”

this is a fact. Reread what I wrote.

Jeep has and will again deny claims if physical abuse on or off road is detected.
They advertise Jeeps with trail rated badges to be able to overcome several different types of off-road challenges, and it would be false advertising if they did not warranty the vehicle for simply doing what they show in their advertising.

Where things get gray are when you add much larger tires and lifts that cause excess strain on components, hitting certain obstacles/rocks that cause impact damage to the vehicle components, mud bogging, or if you participate in off-road "competitions" which isn't well defined.

I think a lot of it is just being smart while off-roading and knowing that yeah, sometimes things will break and it is your fault, and sometimes it's something that should be warrantied and you might have to fight the dealership a bit if they try to deny coverage.

Finally, a voice of reason.
Taking a really tough trail, pushing to the extreme and breaking something - a smart Jeep owner knows it's on him/her, not Jeep if they are running 37s and a 3" lift and break a swaybar mount.
Smack a big rock hard and crack something or bend a driveshaft, no serious Jeep owner would even think of a dealer - they dun it themselves, it's on them.

Of course we never see or hear of first-hand information on denial of warranty for trail damage - just that "it happens a lot" or other scare stuff.
Once you modify something, it's yours and most real Jeep people know this and just sit and shrug or yawn at such comments.

You can go to the link below and find another link to opt out of the telematics data collection. You will loose the ability to have OTA software updates and any connect services and apps on your radio.

From what I know, another way to dodge the telemetrics is to buy a 2020-2023 without the 8.4" UConnect; I believe the 8.4" screen is what gets combined with the 4G connectivity which is how they get the wireless data dumps. The JL/JTs with the 7" or base radio don't have that 4G connectivity/antenna.

The new 2024s all have the next gen UConnect which I'm sure provides even more data to FCA for mining.

That being said, I also assume there's a good chance they just download the data when you bring it to a dealership for general service stuff/oil changes, maybe there's a tech on here that can confirm. I do my own oil changes ever since the dealership overfilled mine by a quart on a previous service, so hopefully my data is safe until a dealership visit is required for some other major reason.

If you grenade something due to excessive rpms, it matters zero amount of your on pavement or not.

If you use your Jeep off road properly, it’s not abuse. It’s use.

I am not a fan of all this technology and big brother stuff. Imagine my horror when I just got an email showing the exact mileage on my new Gladiator, etc. I don't like this at all. Is there anything I can do to stop this invasion of privacy? Thank you.
I have a bigger issue with dealers installing that Mopar's GPS device, charging me for it as a dealer installed option, then trying to get me to sign up for the service. I know you can find it under the dash and disconnect it but the fact that dealers are installing stuff that we never asked for and then charging us irks me.

They aren't tracking every move you make in detail. Mileage is part of the reports you get if you have the Sirius Guardian - and they come with a trial, otherwise, you don't get those reports.
I get stuff that has an estimate of my mileage and it's always wrong because I don't drive the miles in a year the average owner does.

If you want to skip all of that stuff, yeah, a CJ5 would do nicely.

On the other hand, I know a real person who was in an accident where there were no witnesses - just himself and the other party who accused him of not stopping, and making an improper left turn. He was sued, ended up in court as the other party and his insurance were fighting for everything the guy had and owned.
GM came forward with information showing that he had stopped, his speed at the time, etc.
It only recorded the last xx seconds - so there was no trip history, but it was enough info to blow the other party away in court.

So I suggest that you tell your mules you have to meet in different locations to receive product and don't use the Jeep.
I always use my older cars to meet with my supplier and 'customers' and don't take a cell phone with me, cash only, meet in areas with no cameras.
No worries.
I relate to your humor. Not sure what that means but enjoy your comments just the same?

I have the small display but still have wireless connectivity. I have a 2023.

Interesting, I wonder if they snuck that in on the 2023 as an option (or possibly standard) even without the 8.4 screen. Anyone know if this applies to earlier years too? And what package might get it added?

I’m not sure. I asked the sales person if it had wireless Hotspot capabilities, and of course, he told me it didn’t. Then again, he also said my max tow package didn’t come with the upgraded Dana axles.

I didn’t think much of it, and when I called my wireless provider the next day to disconnect the vehicle I traded in they informed me when searching my vin that my truck had the capabilities built-in. Sure enough five minutes later I had wireless hotspot capabilities on my base model head unit.

Short answer: Yes.

https://mashable.com/article/privacy-please-what-data-do-modern-cars-collect

The list of articles goes on for a long time. In short, car companies use your digital systems to harvest a massive amount of data about you, including from your paired mobile devices. Once they sell you a car they stop making money, this is a way to make money on ownership and used cars.

Welcome to the boring dystopia.

Same for your phone, most browsers, email, those "download now for free" games on TV like FOE, Bingo, slots and other crap - oh, it's FREE! Yeah, someone spent time writing them, there's server space and hosting...... free, ok, whatever.......... Anything and everything you do is tracked in some way by someone. Go to any web site and check "who is watching you".

Then again, he also said my max tow package didn’t come with the upgraded Dana axles.
It doesn't - it comes with the 4.10:1 ratio and the slightly wider axles than a Sport or Sport S without max tow. A whopping 1.5" wider (0.75" per side)
That's it - unless you consider the slightly wider axles the "upgraded Dana axles".
They all get the same axles except for width and gear ratio. Of course, Rubicon gets lockers F and R, and Mojave R, but that's not speaking to any other part of the axle.
So bottom line - if you consider 4.10 ratio and 1.5" extra width to be "upgraded axles", then you got upgraded axles.
All else is the same. Period. Been hashed about here for years. The High Altitude has the same axles as max tow because the HA has the slightly wider axles with the 4.10 ratio.
