Coolant in air box..

New out of the Jug, the stuff is purple. Does not stay that way for long once in service.

I've added- it was still orange/pink out of the jug although it wasn't MOPAR part number, it was MOPAR spec.

Must be the be the MOPAR branded stuff that's purple out of the jug but I've never seen it purple in the reservoir.

Then you got a Scooby Doo Mystery. Nothing intrinsically from any of the vehicle fluids should have gotten into the bottom of your air box. What @JTenn mentions sounds more plausible.

If I hadn't remembered spraying that engine cleaner juice all over the engine bay I would 100% swear it was green coolant. Same exact color. Some got in through the rubber boot air intake. It goes straight to the bottom of the box and settles in the little square recesses. The stuff cleaned the hell out of the engine though. Lol

There's also a cold air inlet in the grill that goes into the bottom of the air box. If you used enough pressure at that point, you could in theory force soap or whatever into the bottom of the box.

I have a gallon of the Mopar anti freeze sitting in the garage. It's purple. Had to get some when I did my block heater install.

I buy the stuff matching mopar spec, not the mopar branded coolant.
OAT meeting their specs. (MS.90032)
It will last me for years since I rarely ever have to add any.

i always have distilled water on hand. So, it's no big thing to me.

I have to buy distilled in bulk for the plating baths so it's always on hand, at least a dozen gallons in the shop.

When I say I hate buying water - I hate paying for the water in the 50/50 premix stuff when I always have water on hand anyway.

About a year ago my coolant reservoir looked just a tad below the line. I didn't want to buy a whole gallon, so I picked up this stuff at Walmart and put a couple of ounces in it.

Yeah, I just don't add things to the cooling system other than recommended stuff.
We have two Jeeps to maintain, and I've thought of converting my SX4 to the OAT coolant since it does sit a lot, not driven in winter, etc.
But for additives - no.
People go back and forth on wetters, additives, this concentration, that concentration and so on and I refer back to a study done several years ago where it was proven the most effective mixture for flow rate and heat extraction was a perfect 50/50 mix. The GPM flow rates and so on were measured.
Anything that says it lubricates the water pump bearings - so they are telling you that they leak past the seals to get to the bearings? How can anything lubricate a sealed bearing?

So many products on shelves are for problems that don't exist, or, for putting a band-aid on a problem that should really be fixed properly.
Surprised they don't sell bottled sawdust for quieting noisy differentials.
When we travel, I take an empty coolant jug, put 1/2 gallon of distilled water in it and 1/2 gallon of MOPAR spec OAT coolant in it and stow it in the back. That way if we happen to have a small issue, I can top things off with ease. With 2 Jeeps it won't be wasted - and it should keep on the shelf for 2 or 4 years fine.

I use Engine Ice in my bikes and in the Nismo. It works better the Water Wetter and water. Plus it's an anti freeze. And it passes track tech.
