(Is anyone aware of crash test data for no doors on? Got me thinking…)

With my wrangler in New England it sometimes would get freezing on the ride back at night, even with heat cranked, which was a deterrent for taking it off so I’d leave wind pants & a windbreaker in it. 80 daytime, 55 nighttime (+ 65mph in shorts= cold)
Jeep doesn't have a side rating. if you can guess why. https://www.nhtsa.gov/vehicle/2023/Jeep/Gladiator#safety-ratings-side

Cause it’d be shit, right? Wonder if the 2024 will have one with the airbags. And why does jeep get to not list one— shouldn’t there be one anyways so we can see as consumers?
idk. but they did the bare min by adding seat airbags and nothing else. Its one of the reasons Gladiators are more costly to insure over other midsize pickups. Cus if you get T-boned your dead. I don't mind cus i ride bikes. They seem pretty good in a rollover for a convertible tho.

That’s how I viewed it: I bought my last wrangler after selling a motorcycle. This was pricier but four seasons, bring a friend, and better protection. But now I have kids and there’s nothing back there for the used ones, and electric cars are heavyyyyy . Imagine getting boned by a Rivian or cyber truck at what, 6000 lbs?

yup and it'll do more damage than a 1 ton truck cus it'll have the same momentum but a smaller impact profile. especially with the plastic front end that will fold around the cabin bar and intrude into the cab. A true steel bumper like a ranch hand on a 3500 might actually catch enough side on the on a jeep to push the whole thing rather than invade into the cabin. But hey what can you do? just keep your head on a swivel and double check before crossing an intersection. It's gonna hurt whether you see Dale or not.

Weather and road regulations.

Up to now haven't even removed the tops. But I am going to Corsica in May and plan to do some topless trips on the island.

I had a YJ and kept the top and doors off for years but I lived in S. FL (yes it gets chilly there). But now I'm in S. TX and it gets cold here but I find myself in the same boat as most others - POLLEN and no room. I have no place left in my garage for doors and the space it would take for the rear portion of the hard top. No, there is not a space left in my garage left and there is no room in the back yard for a shed which could house most of the garage tools. Sigh ...

Let’s see… hot, humid, wet, pollen, leaves, pine straw, dirt, bugs, birds, squirrels, no garage, noise, safety.

I will remove freedom panels from time to time weather permitting, never had the urge to remove doors. I had a 2dr Wrangler soft top with half doors. It provided all the road excitement I needed, and more than enough air.

That's what my 2004 TJ Rubicon is for

For me, my TJ is much more fun naked, then my JT would ever be (for me)

My JKU's (2007 and 2013) never got naked either, as both (just as my JT) were my daily drivers

I just put my soft top back on the jeep. Even when i had the hard top on, if it was 68 or above on the drive home from work I took off the freedom panels. As long as the forecast looks clear I'll do a no door Friday to work and really most weekend days I just leave the doors off unless it looks like rain. It really doesn't take any time to throw them back on.

Now pollen is another story, I feel like I spend more time with an air compressor getting pollen out of cracks and crevices than I do driving the dang jeep.

I almost never see anyone take off the doors or roof of a Wrangler/Gladi, even the crazy ones who raise it 6 inches and run 40 tires.
I guess the main reason is that most people don't have a garage.
The removed doors and roof are difficult to store. I think this is the direct reason why Tube door is not popular in China...

I would like some feedback or some help understanding why more people that own gladiators or wranglers don’t take the doors and top off when the weather is nice. I have a hard top Mojave and whenever the weather gets 73 or higher I take the doors and entire top off. The reason I bought a gladiator was for the truck bed, off road potential and the ability to take the doors and top off. The way I see it is if you’re not going to do that why get a jeep. There are other options out there with bigger engines and towing capacity. I get that some owners are soccer moms and young kids that just think it looks cool but I’ve driven by guys my age in their forties on a nice day with the windows up. I just don’t get it. Give me some different perspectives please. Thanks
For me it has to do with the weather here, we get about 4 weeks of nice weather a year, the rest too hot, or too cold to be comfortable riding in the breeze. and when you factor in the fact the 60% of the time we have dust blowing its hardly worth taking the Jeep apart. I do however enjoy know I can do that even though I probably won't

The '98 TJ I bought in 2014 replaced my motorcycles.
As you age, you cage; the saying goes.
That Sahara stays naked and I have a Jeep Cave (garage)
to keep it and the doors and hardtop in.

Have not removed the top or doors on the '21 JT yet
and do not plan to anytime soon.
Although I must confess a pretty blond in a naked red JT
on the beach in Galveston spurred me to buy my own.
