I have 77,000 trouble free miles on my 2020 JL Rubicon Diesel. I just pulled the 37's off my JT and put them on the JL so we can take it to Moab next week for nine days of wheeling, I wish I could find a low mileage Diesel Sport to drive to work to keep miles off the Rubi. I would not hesitate to buy one with 60 K well maintained.

I don't know what the price on that used is, but I'm seeing loaded farout final edition diesels for under 50k, unless it's a screaming deal id rather have the power train warranty and diesel emissions warranties.

The diesel to me is like my wife's 4xe. Great power, great power train, no chance id want it out of warranty just because the off chance of repair is too expensive in my eyes.
It is listed for $38k. Wondering if that is a good deal. It's loaded.

12k off a comparable 23 but 2 years older and with out any warranty left and 60k miles? Doesn't scream great deal to me honestly
Seems like it's no longer available.

What’s work?
First off all the diesel threads that I have been part of since last year here I’ve come to the conclusion that most are 90% committed to doing it talking you out of or comparing the two it is pointless. But understand good or bad you are taking on more liability with any new diesel. PM diligence is crucial, when an engine PM is done so should the fuel filter. This split business between engine service and fuel service is asking for trouble. Common rail fuel system so filtration is super critical, not just its ability and efficiency to filter but also not creating an inlet restriction to HP pump. Some post back someone claimed to do the particulate filter at 8K, not true. Under normal operation a DPF has a defined TBO(time based operation), but many external influences can change that absorption rate in DPF. Regardless they can last years with out issue or be wiped out out in one day because of an EGR cooler failure. So it is an EGR engine with DOC/DPF/SCR. Nothing wrong with that, I pay my mortgage on this junk but keep it mind that it’s not gas.

Second, they have new ones marked down so stupid low now look at new, my local dealer has Rubicon marked down to 47 or some damn thing like that. They have I’m guessing 9 Sports that like 45. Hell I’m tempted to snag one at that price. Just keep it around to pack my gaggle of ATVs around, because this 3.6 sucks ass at that job.

2021 JTRD just a few miles short of 90K. Nothing but torque and joy from coast to coast. I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again. If you can score a great deal on a new one, take it and enjoy.

My dealer has 2023 sport diesels on the lot for around 42k… didn’t see any diesel rubicons, though.

I think it was this thread that opened my eyes to what a modern diesel engine is like.
I had two diesels from the early and mid 80's and both were all but maintenance free and trouble free.

That’s an older version eco diesel, they made significant progress through each generation.

I love my diesel, had a DEF pump/heater issue when I first purchased it. Quickly and easily replaced by the dealership. With all of that being said I likely won’t keep it past its warranty unless the aftermarket increases with various longevity, emissions fixes.

It’s a 21 Willy’s D, so when it comes time to look who knows. If I had to jump ship right now I’d look at the Chevy 1500 with the 3.0.

Looking at trading my gas Willys for a diesel Rubicon. There are a few available and one has a great price (I think) but it has 60k miles. Is that too much mileage for 2021? I know diesels tend to last very long but I have no experience with a Jeep diesel. Thanks.
All depends on the how it was maintained and also some dumb luck....
I have a 23 JTRD with 22k on it no issues, wife has a 21 JLURD with 65k no issues.... bit I had a 22 that had an emissions harness issue from day 1 and then lost the pump at 3k and I sold it back to them... (it's in Alabama now btw)

We LOVE our diesels and wouldn't have the Jeep with the anemic 3.6

All great points. My local dealer won't budge on the price on the Willys. Which dealer is that?

I own a Gladiator diesel and I did a bunch of online research before buying the diesel. What I found was the problems with the 3 liter are little different than the power stroke and Cummins and that is it all comes down to maintenance. I follow this guy on YouTube as he has a huge shop in Utah and does a ton of diesel work.

That's a Gen 2 Eco in the video.
