Bartact rear seat cover - told to cut my own holes

Hi everybody,

Ordered rear seat covers for Bartact. During the install I went to put the center head rest back on. And noticed there were no cutouts to reinstall it.
I called them, talked to Noah. He was going to go check on it, I call back the next day and he tells me to cut a hole for the head rest. I ask, “you all couldn’t put a button hole there?”. He says ‘it’s made from a rip stop material. It won’t get any larger than what I cut.’ I chuckle and say ok. He offers to send me some pictures of what to do.

I am wondering is this the norm for their product or did they forget on mine and just want me to ‘make it work’? As it stands I’m quite disappointed in my purchase.

Try not to overthink it. I've had mine on for 3+ years and I cut them. Good product.

you paid for a finished product didnt you ? why are you the one having to cut holes.

I heated up a screwdriver and pushed it through on the set I had on my JKU.

That's how my front seat covers were. I used a utility knife after installing them to find the hole. They've held up since 2019 just fine.

Devil's advocate here, I don't run the center headrest, and I'd skip the side ones too if I could figure how they come off. If/When I DO finally get it together and buy a set of these covers, I'd personally prefer the holes into the headrest mount be covered from ingress of water & Dust.

I have a full set. The ripstop is absolutely no joke as you will find out. The return is 100% perfect fitment with zero issues down the line. Mine are cut just barely big enough so the fitment is amazing.

Yep, if you take your time, everything tucks in under the headrest catch and you can't see any cuts. Great seat covers.

Im with OP on this one. If its so easy to do, we should be expecting the manufacturer to do it, especially at the prices theyre charging. Its not about how easy it is to fix it, its about the principle.

So many of my purchases have needed additional work to fit properly, had to replace trash fasteners with good ones, etc etc. Its expected when you buy no name chinesium off the interwebs, which I admittedly do occasionally, but for big name brands pushing themselves as premium, thats a paddlin.

Something changed with that company. I’ve had their fronts on my JK for many years. They fit perfectly. Several years later I ordered their rear cover and have been really disappointed with the fit. They said to keep working the material, that it would relax and stretch to fit. Nope, just not cut properly. I imagine they offshored manufacturing and quality took a hit.

I received the email directions of how to make their custom made to order vehicle specific seat cover actually fit our JT’s.
this was the first part of the email they sent, it would seem to be all of your all fault!

“ We do not cut the holes in the headrests because a long time ago we tried to doing that and it turned out a lot of customers were coming up with different distances for where their headrest mount pieces were placed.either they would be off from a quarter inch to a half inch when we did put the cuts in them from our laser cutter. i will give you a run down on how to install them. you are going to need a sharp blade preferably a box cutter or an X-acto knife for this. Please do not worry about cutting the material either as it is made from rip stop nylon and will not tear any further than what you cut.”

These are on my 2007 JK since May 2013ish. The fronts fit well and the wear would be normal I guess for sliding off them for 10 years. (It’s on 37s)
the back never was cut perfect and the second piece sent didn’t fit any better. No resolution. I just left it at that.
Tough material, they’ve done well. I run half doors and soft top all summer and have larger dogs.

Don’t be disappointed. You chose the most durable covers ever. Mine were on for three years the first time they were removed. My leather looked like it was off the showroom floor. Small x pattern cuts and it’ll tuck under the plastic at the base of the headrest. The reason they do that is to make it look factory, which it does. I’ve had people ask me why I didn’t get leather in my rubicon, not knowing it’s underneath.
