I'll be curious to know the part number shown on the invoice for what they changed when it's fixed.

Possibly, but I prefer to wait and see what's on the invoice. Had too many times where a service advisor will tell somebody "we're changing XX part" and then per the paperwork it was something else entirely.68391530AA
Then there's the possibility that it turns out that's not the problem or only part of the problem. We shall see!Possibly, but I prefer to wait and see what's on the invoice. If I was doing it, on my truck, I'd probably line them all up again if they were at the tightness I was comfortable with when I put it back together.I finally got the chance to go off-roading since the dealer fixed it. Well, nothing changed, I still get the service 4WD light, still indicates 4L and 2H when I shift back, etc. So I crawled underneath to look at things, and what do I find? Now, if you'll remember, I was to billed shop rate (it was $296 total) for the tech to drop my aftermarket skid plates to do the repair/replacement. Is it simply a coincidence that all the paint lines for the skid-plate screws/bolts are still perfectly lined up?
I personally come to a complete stop, put the tranny in neutral, shift into 4 low, then put tranny back into gear. It works every time and is gentle on the gears. If it doesn’t engage perfectly because of gear alignment, just let your foot off the brake and let it rotate while gently pulling back on the t case shifter and it’ll drop right in.That's what I'm doing.
If you reported it and they attempted repairs before the warranty was up, then it's still covered as an unresolved issue that was on record before the end of warranty.Scratches on the bolts line up, some of the allen screws are still packed with dried mud, I really think they didn't do what they claimed. Spoke with the service manager today, I'll drive up there in a couple of weeks. Of course, now that it has 38K on it, electrical problems (like the sensors they replaced?) a few weeks ago aren't covered, but the powertrain (transfer case) is! I can't say I'm particularly encouraged....
That's pretty much how I figure it. They said they fixed it. I feel that they probably cleared the codes, replaced some parts, and then didn't get codes. But let's face it, unless they test drove it in 4L for a few hundred yards, then they have no clue if it was really fixed! If you reported it and they attempted repairs before the warranty was up, then it's still covered as an unresolved issue that was on record before the end of warranty.
They can't call king's-X on you and say sorry, time ran out, we're done.
If it's a DIFFERENT issue, that's different.
But if you were having problems due to sensors or wiring or whatever, and they have it on a work order and they attempted repairs but you still have that same problem, then it's a problem from when it was still under warranty - they can't walk away from it because of some date line that was crossed.
Rediculous. They must have some part of their lot long enough to drive in a straight line for at least enough time to test this. Do not leave the dealer with it again if it's not fixed. Test it right there on their lot.Had it back there yesterday, they claim the computer says I shifted into 4L at 5.6 mph, hence the problems. They said come to a full stop, put the trans in neutral, then shift to 4L (even though the manual states coasting in neutral at 1-3 mph). Fine, took it home. Today at the local dump I did exactly that, and still have the same exact problem! Doesn't anyone do a test drive anymore or are they too worried about legal ramifications if they have an accident? Is @JeepCares following any of this?
