Anyone else wonder why Jeep insurance is going up more than other vehicles?
Yeah I feel the pain of it.

Of the ones of us who have been "here" for years now can remember the claimed "SF" guy's that destroyed a new Rubicon JT doing the same thing, then didn't even know how to disengage the auto park to tow it out. Fully destroying it, they made quite a spectacle out of recovering that one. ?
About same time of the year if I remember correctly.

Would anyone in their right mind attempt that? It looks pretty deep to me.
I know some old Camel Land Rovers that would

I was thinking humvee, old land rover works too! The two vehicles I most commonly see with a snorkel so high that I have to wonder if the driver has a scuba tank lol.
it's actually suprising how many vehicles can do super deep crossings. the trick is not doing solo or under its own power. One trip I went on we had a pretty light river crossing but when we came back down a few days later the thaw and rain had that shit 3 times higher than when we originally crossed and it was moving too. It was also the only way home. gotta love dead end trails in the middle of nowhere. we walked the shore line till we found a spot shallow enough to walk with a tether line. once across we used a shit ton of rope and a pulley (no such thing as too much synthetic rope). one truck at a time off and in neutral, winch pulled with a slight nose going with the flow and a rear teather to another truck winch. getting the first truck across took hours. once we had a vehicle on both sides it was quite easy to transfer winch a truck across. The last truck was the headache tho. we just said F it and winched it just from the front, nose into the flow. it was full of water but got it across too. spent 2 hours just making sure we got water out of everything needed to run. but we all got home, with soggy britches, wet winchlines, and water level marks in our interiors. took days to fully dry my truck out, carpet sucks. surprisingly enough only one front diff had water in it when we flushed all of em a few days later. transmissions were good too.

Deep is one thing, river currents is another, especially swollen, fast rivers.

yeah if it had been any faster, we'd have just waited. worse case we call emergency via sat and recover the trucks later. I don't think i would do that again tbh.

On Delaware Bay a few years ago saw a 1 or 2 year old Dodge 1500 stuck in the sand at low tide. Well, they decided not to pay the local farmer to get it our with his tracked skid loader. We watched the tide come in and eventually over the hood. Being the 4th of July we also watched people aim and bounce fireworks off of the thing.
I figured that if he didn't want the farmer's help, he probably didn't want mine. So my Gladiator sat about 100 yards away in my driveway. We all help each other out but the yahoos are on their own, especially when they are in front of houses not down where the fishing is.

Great story. The proportion of idiots around is way too high.

Those of us in NM don’t have to worry about that often!
I don’t know where you are, and I would normally agree but flash floods are definitely a thing around here. I had to get on top of a ridge last year and wait one out while my wife and I were out screwing around in a wash when it started raining. I pulled up to the high ground and we just sat and watched all the washes turn into the Colorado River.

Once they went down enough to allow us to cross safely I got the hell out of there headed for blacktop, ever thankful for a capable off road vehicle.
