I have a 2020 gladiator with 53k on it. It’s an automatic transmission. About 2k miles ago it started clunking into reverse and straining from 3rd to 4th gear and a jolt once actually going into 4th. It didn’t do it all the time - mostly when just starting it up for the day and at lower speeds - so my brain was like “well maybe it just needs to warm up”… I was wrong. ? … it’s worse now. Called jeep dealership yesterday and they said they’d need to keep it for up to 10 days to diagnose and then basically no time limit if a new transmission needs to be installed. ?‍?
Anyone else have or had this issue?
Thanks!

the transmission or the dealership needing the vehicle for a ridiculous amount of time?

Mine doesn't seem to have any issues on the fly other than it takes an unusually long time for it to decide to up shift in any gear. She definitely likes to redline before upshifting. I do get teh driveline clunk when engaging drive or reverse. I just attribute it to the electronic shifting opposed to the mechanical like cars used to have. You might want to move this to the transmission sexton of the Forum instead of general discussion.

Dealerships suck. They need the vehicle onsite to "HOLD' its place in line and if it's not there when the diagnostic tech is ready they more to teh next Dodge/Ram/Chrysler/Jeep vehicle in line. That's what i was told. 10 days is a bit long. My local dealer is 3 days and some others are 5. Most could care less these are our daily drivers and there is no loaner program so typically you are SOL unless you can drop the cost of a rental.

good luck hope it get figured out. Maybe you just need to recalibrate the transmission. DO you have J-scan or a tazer?

Has the trans been serviced?

I could see old, tired fluid causing symptoms, though I would think it would be more than just the two.

I’m guessing the transmission install would need that amount of time? Seems completely ridiculous. I don’t have a tazer - although I should.
The clunking into reverse just started a few months ago and the shifting is fairly smooth until the 3rd to 4th. Noticeably struggling to get into gear. Hopefully it’s just the fluid?
yeah - not a fan of the dealership experience. At all!

i use J-Scan in total i spent about $100 for the bluetooth OBDII, bypass wires and $10 VIN registration in the J-scan app and it literally does everything you need it to do. unless you want teh fancy light shows tazer programs. If your just a guy with a truck and want access to deal selectable options J-scan is great. You can clear trouble codes, change gear and transmission ratios and shift points, turn off ess and all the fancy stuff. Works great for me and not $500. MAybe recalibrating the transmission would correct the oddities. Just a thought.

This new trend of "hey, leave your vehicle here for up to 10 days and we will try to squeeze the hour in needed to diagnosis it" blows donkey balls.

FACTS!!
How about you call me when the guy is ready and i'll drive it in, park it, you can scan it and tell me what's next. All in my extended lunch break and i don't even have to get out of the Jeep!

There's more to the Tazer than a light show. There's live options that can flash your third brake light or the ability to go dark. Or find out your 0-30/0-60 time.

yeah i know there are other things programmed into tazer. My 0-6 is long enough to count outloud. LOL. My point was if you don't need all teh other Bells and Whistles . J-Scan is perfect.

trail turn assist and winch mode have to be my two favorite features. Plus locker on in 2HI
