I have hearing loss mainly in the mid range frequencies. I can hear annoying noises pretty well and voices not as well.
We started another Gladiator build(3rd one) and this time I decided to go all in on the sound deadening. This raised an interesting issue. First was a Coverking headliner with sound deadener underneath. This was great except now the wind around the windshield was pronounced. I folded the windshield down and added foam weatherstrip which helped a good bit but now the road noise through the floor and doors was pronounced. I put in Soundskin and another 10 sq ft underneath the Jeep. Now the Jeep is very quite under 55 mph and I am happy I did all that stuff.
Now the problem, I am running 37/12.50/17 Toyo Open Country R/T trail tires. They look great, they ride great and below 55 they are quite enough. Above 55 they have a high pitch tone that doesn't work well with my hearing. I had the same problem with Falken AT3's so I don't blame the tires. I ran Nitto Ridge Grapplers and before that Trail Grapplers. Both were very good but I wasn't running any sound deadener back then.
So this is a long way of asking, can anyone verify wether or not Trail Grapplers or Ridge Grapplers put out a lower frequency of sound compared to a Falken or Toyo(and each other)? I am looking for a low hum, not a high pitch.
I may be selling the Toyo's with about 700 miles on them if anyone between the coast of Al and the southern border of NC is interested.(Headed there in 2 weeks)
