OK. I searched the manual and did not find what I was looking for and searchess here didn't bring much up. Does anyone know if the spare tire has a TPS ? If it does not can one be added ? I'd like to replace my tires and want to do 5 tire rotations like I do on my Wrangler. I hate that I have a brand new tire with 0 miles on it now and the others are at 65K. So will the jeep handle all 5 when I rotate. I dont need to see the spare but when its on I want it to read like my wrangler. I assume answer is yes ?

There is no TPS in the spare in the gladiator (at least my '21 does not have it). Not sure if it would read the spare while it was stowed if you added one. Are you running a matching wheel for your spare? Mine came with a plain steel wheel (unlike the wrangler), so I don't see doing a 5-wheel rotation because of that.

I would have to buy a matching wheel and tire to do a five tire rotation. To me, it's just not worth the hassle and effort. My first Gladiator went over 4.5 years without ever dropping the spare.

I have a new wheel for the spare. Bought one used to do this. I dont need to read the spare while off the vehicle just when its on it. I guess I'll just put the new tires on and try it. I assume its the same system as the wrangler so it should work. Now to decide waht tire I want again.

The TPMS Sensors go to sleep when the vehicle stops moving. The movement of the wheel, or adding air to the tire, will wake up the sensor. Having a sensor in the spare should not be an issue, as it will be asleep until mounted to one of the axles and it starts moving. The receiver automatically detects and determines the location of the active sensors (provided the correct sensors are installed).

Thanks @Mr._Bill I figured that was the case as it is on the Wrangler. Looking up tires now. Almost tempted to buy same as I have just so I can buy 4 instead of 5 but really want to jump up a little in size.

I'm sure this was discussed years ago. Before my first tire rotation, I bought a matching wheel. Took it and the stock steel spare over to Discount Tire. They added the correct TPMS to the wheel and switched over the tire and balanced. I've been doing 5 tire rotations ever since.

As noted there is no TMPS in the spare and that wheel does not match the 4.

You CAN add a matching wheel and TMPS to it, and when doing a 5 tire it will correctly read the ones being used.

I did/do this. I bought a 5th matching wheel, added a monitor to it, and do 5 tire rotations.

Try putting spare on truck drive 3 to five miles with 30 psi in spare and it should update on dash if it has a tpms installed

99% sure there's no TPMS in the spare. I had a Goodyear tire shop add a 5th TPMS to my system for a 5 tire rotation. I've done the rotation twice now and it picks up the new one within a couple minutes as it should. I paid too much for my TPMS but I was doing tires at the same time so I didn't really care as much as I should have lol

Whatever you are swapping to and from, keep in mind there was a cut in change to the TPMS sensor types on June 7th 2021 builds going forward for both the Wrangler and Gladiator. Neither type is compatible with the other so you need to keep that in mind when swapping in another wheel with a TPMS sensor.
