Daily driver here with no complaints. 2 years and 42k miles of on/offroad bliss. When I do get to go on some adventures, I am often amazed that the same vehicle that takes my kids to daycare everyday can scramble up dunes and bounce off rocks so happily.

In many ways, the Gladiator caters to the daily driver audience because it's a midsize truck. But unlike many midsize/compact trucks, the Gladiator is utilitarian, diverse, and very capable. Gladiators can be used for towing, hauling material, and still be able to meet the needs for outdoor enthusiasts (hunters, fishermen, hikers, bikers, firewood collectors, etc.). From a financial perspective, it's very cost effective to be able to buy one vehicle that can get you to work every day, but also meet your recreational needs.

Essentially, this is why I own a diesel Gladiator instead of a diesel Wrangler. The Wrangler is nice, but it has limitations.

I owned a Wrangler for 15 years, loved it. Used as a second vehicle. Unfortunately my girlfriend's son totaled it. Since then I went through a lot of vehicles , Subaru, Mazda, and I would get bored with them and trade them in after 2 years. Then 5 years ago I snagged a great deal on my dream car, a 2018 Alfa Quad. Probably the best crossover SUV ever built. But thanks to Stellantis' idiotic management dealerships began to close down such as the one in Tucson. Had to go to PHX for maintenance and warranty work. The car was in the shop for a week the last time and the customer service was terrible. I knew I could not hang on to this car.

On a whim I traded the Alfa in for a 2021 JT Mojave. I thought hey I'll hang on to it for2 years then decide what vehicle I really want. BUT I soon fell in love. This is my second favorite vehicle I've ever owned. I use it as a daily driver but I have off-roaded a few places, Moab and S AZ. I can't say enough good things about the Mojave trim, suspension is amazing. And it's not bad on the Interstate. So I'm at 40k miles and hope to keep it running for a few more years.

Trying out a free trial - so far, I get this -
Jeep Gladiator You're still not 100% Happy, and I get it. 1728933350390-hg

The next area is a simple trail, akin to a farm road - 2 out of 10, I could likely take with my car.
Then another is an off-highway vehicle trail, closed to Jeeps and cars.

More checking - all 3 shown are for off-highway vehicles and riding trails only. They show nothing in Iowa.

These are all closed to vehicle traffic except for ATVs, etc.

Thanks much for trying. That's about the only trail mapping thing I'd not looked at, likely because it's a "for a fee" thing, but used their free trial bit.

I daily drove mine for about 25k miles and had no complaints. My wife daily drove it for about 10k miles and it made her start liking the JT….subjective of course, but we love it all around!

I certainly agree with you…the JT shines off-road as advertised. It’s an amazing machine and kind of leaves me in awe sometimes. I can’t wait to get back out on some trails. It’s been too long, but there aren’t too many places near me left to explore. I’ll have to start going further out once my son is a little older.

It’s the best vehicle I’ve ever owned and I’ll likely never get rid of it. We’re throwing a rooftop tent on it soon, and we’ll create many great Jeep memories with our son. Adventure is always worth it.

I think a daily driver sub-forum would be great for those of us who use our JT on-road most if not all of the time. I've had two Wranglers- One soft top on hard top, both 2dr, two Cherokee's, and now my 2021 Willys JT which replaced one of the Wranglers. So far best of the lot. Everything works. The only "complaint" is having to use a cable to get CarPlay to work consistently.

When I got it, used at Carmax, it had knobby tires for off road which were very noisy and the ride was less than ideal. Swapped them out for more daily driver friendly ones. A world of difference.

I could have bought a Ford, Toyota, ... but I wanted the JT. Would have been cheaper but then it would look like every other small pickup out there. Plus I knew how Jeeps were to tow behind a motorhome and was an easy decision.

Just because you can take the doors off, roof panels out, lower the windshield, lift it so the wife can't get in it without a step stool doesn't mean you have to or a lessor Jeep enthusiast if you don't.
Thanks for this. A daily driver sub-forum is a great idea. I'm shopping for a new pickup right now. My heart says JT, my head (and my family) says Canyon/Taco/Ranger. I work from home, drive mostly when I want to, not need to, and can use a pickup bed. If I was buying for needs I'd get a used Corolla. This will mostly be an on-road truck but having the capability could lead me to a new hobby... As for price, everything I see right now says I can get a Mojave X for less than a mid-level Taco, a Raptor or an AT4X. A Willys, which is what I want, then becomes one of the most affordable mid-sizers.

There's enough of us around who do daily drive these - simply put the questions or concerns in the proper place and we'll be there.
I'd bet of all of the members who have been active in the last 12-24 months, at least a majority do daily drive them. It's not a big deal because pretty much everything is the same either way.
The main differences are steering and suspension and we've been handling DD (daily driver) questions related to these for years.

Basics are the same either way. It's sort of like a request we had on the AMC forums - some wanted a Gremlin only section....... WHY? It's a car - the only difference is the body and a few odds and ends.

You've had it for a while, or you purchased it a few months back. You feel like you got a pretty good deal, and that is a super nice feeling, no doubt. But as you try to use it, baby it, show it off and just be that proud jeep owner some of the little things you could do in your former rig are becoming annoying, bothersome and at times irritating. Auto wipers go haywire..... once in a great while, parking assist is a pain when you're allowed to enter the automatic car wash. You feel guilty scuffing up the bed when you role up that spiffy and shinny tonneau cover to put a Coscto size TP pack back there. Maybe it seems a little noisy for those Highway trips, and once those slick leather seats get broke in, I'm sure they'll be alot more comfy for the spouse, so they quit their belly aching and you can get back to enjoying your favorite ride. Then there's that thirsty gas tank, damn, 22 gallons? Why on earth is it so big?. It is super fun to drive around town, til we all get to that little parking spot at the restaurant, but at least the doors are small so it is easy to get out. I'd back into more spots but the license plate glare blinds my backup cam, sometimes rendering it useless. I'd pop the top on some of these beautiful evenings, but It's a preschooler's jigsaw saw puzzle, heaven for bid if you scratch it or your spotless bed by securing it there. Hmmm.............time to electronically make your payment (pause) ah. I wonder what the resale value is on a used JT? Hmmm, wow I wasn't expecting that, next year will be better. I'll give it a cool name ( I can't name mine her because it was deemed political, it's not, but rules are rules) and that is nice, jeeps can be personalized, which is super cool. Awesome color highlights, sweet rims, maybe even some off-road doors. But the off-road doors come with an uneasy feeling when you can't see it, no? So the expense of owning what you thought was going to be your dream Jeep/Truck/Vehicle isn't all that anymore. JT's get traded in after a year or two, very often by individuals with all these concerns. I see it here on the forum all the time, I live a life and don't camp on here like some of my haters,(S.P. for one) because I read about all the petty problems (1st world problems I might add) and I watch many of the new owners, post their hello's, like a few posts, attempt a few posts, take some super nice pics of them and their shiny new JT's and then fade into oblivion after a few months, or a year or two. Its definitely disheartening.

But wait, did you know there is a section of this forum that has longtime JT owners? Individuals that love their JT's and post regularly, and very positive posts. It's not the Daily drivers, there is no channel on this forum for Daily Drivers, and for good reason, the post would be of nothing but short term owners, complaining about their JTR always having some irritating discomfort and some spontaneous intermittent problem that is always grinding on them, like a tooth ache. I'm probably going to sound like a broken record to my haters with this next statement. Build your JT for adventures, and ditch it as a daily driver, its not only good at adventures, its great for them. The memories you make with it, when off pavement will have you falling in lust with it all over again. If you are still considering it your "Pavement Princes" and your adventures stop at Walgreens, then I predict once you aren't financially upside down in it, you will trade it in and you will be amongst the group when jeep talk arises, you will say "been there, done that" and "its not all that its cracked up to be." All I can say is, how unfortunate, not for you, but for the wasted life of a daily driver Jeep JT. I,m sure everyone has their opinion on this post, but the true jeep lovers, the true JT lovers get it, and the ones building their ride as they can afford it are the owners I can't wait to meet and share some real adventures with. I started with 33's and the mopar 2" leveling kit. Off to Ouray Colorado I went, and I did all the BOH trails there, and the true meaning of the jeep seed was planted. I could write more, ramble on, but I won't. It doesn't take much to get you out and off the pavement, treat your JT like a Lambo, take it out for jeep stuff and it will pay you back with many smiles, drive it as a DD, the lust will evaporate and you will move on with your vehicle evolution, and thats your loss.

See ya on the trails.
(I'll re-read, correct and edit this at a later time, but thanks for reading)

I more than understand all the critiques of this vehicle but for me its absolutely what I wanted. I came from a manual mazda 3 (that I had 10k into the stereo) that I drove for nearly 10 years and absolutely loved until i was tboned and rolled. While I loved that car I wanted more space to go to the beach and pack up my/our things when taking friends and also something capable in more than on road scenarios that didnt break the bank. Ive always loved trucks and jeeps but they were WAYY too expensive at that time for me to justify it and I unfortunately jumped in a cx30. Not having manual took all the fun and joy out of driving for me and I found myself upset that I didnt have the room I wanted, wasnt enjoying it and still paying for a car I didnt love. So I spent a few months looking for a manual truck, calling around, negotiating and the gladi was exactly what I wanted checking all my boxes. I dont tow anything and wont for any time in the foreseeable future and it does everything I need it to do and then some. Not only that but it genuinely brings joy to my day and thats priceless.

Furthermore, as some one that logs 60hr weeks working in an inner city ED, that little bit of joy after a busy or taxing 12-14hr shift is worth EVERY LAST PENNY. While I absolutely love my job, Ive had nights where Ive been absolutely bent over working my ass off, abused by pts, gotten in fights, watched multiple people pass, etc. Having that one thing that brings you joy after all of that can mean everything and thats what I have with my gladi and motorcycle. Wouldnt trade either of them

Daily driver and daily wheeler. I feel for the Guy's and Gal's that don't have the opportunity to take their Gladiators off roading. 4-wheeling is where the Gladiator shines.

I have daily driven my Gladiator since I got it new two years ago. It drives as well as any other truck that I have owned, which were all straight axle Dodge Power Wagons, with one two wheel drive truck thrown in. As for off road, I feel that the Gladiator is as capable as I will ever need, although it is a bit bigger and has a longer wheelbase than the '77 Power Wagon that I had. It has been one of my favorite vehicles, and I have owned more than forty cars and trucks over the years. In short, I look forward to driving it as often as I can.

NGL i got a good chuckle from this cus you pretty much described a straight up commuter car guy looking for a personality and biting off more than he could chew. 22 gals? big?! hell naw! thats small af in the truck world. 40 plus is big and 30 is just right. Scratching?! Man, don'tcha know rubbing is racing and scraping is wheelin! Toss some loose bricks in the bed and do some donuts. Get rid of that "it to nice to use" feeling real quick. But yeah man, all in all, it comes down to perspective, expectations and use case. No your Jeep Gladiator won't make you king of the world, it won't make you cooler to your wife or friends, it won't add that final touch to your grey man low key tactical look. Its not a recipe for a more diverse personality cus you own one. What it is, is an opportunity. An opportunity to take the path less traveled. And I assume anyone who's ever read a good adventure book, know what happens when you finally decide to take that first step. She was never meant to sit among a sea of shapeless cars in the Costco parking lot. She yearns for mountains, deserts, and open skies. If your not picking up, what I'm putting down. GO WHEEL THE FUCKIN THING GAWD DAMMMIT!
